Chapter 8
Apr 17, 2025
Damien’s heart pounded in his chest as he stormed into the hospital. He left immediately after putting Danielle to sleep.
When he pushed open the door to her room, he froze. It was empty. The bed was made, the curtains swayed in the breeze, but she was nowhere to be found.
“Where the hell is she?” Damien muttered under his breath, pacing the room.
He stormed out, heading straight for the doctor’s office. The door creaked open, and Damien didn’t wait for an invitation. He stepped inside, his eyes narrowing as he saw the doctor standing by the desk, scribbling on a notepad.
“Where is she?” Damien demanded, his voice sharp.
The doctor glanced up at him, his face tight, as if struggling with something. He didn’t speak, and for a moment, Damien thought he was going to remain silent, but then the doctor sighed and shook his head.
“She left,” the doctor finally muttered, and Damien felt a cold wave of disappointment wash over him.
“She left?” Damien echoed, his anger rising again. “What do you mean she left?”
The doctor remained silent, his eyes lowering.
Damien was about to turn and walk out when the doctor’s voice stopped him.
“I’m loyal to you, Alpha,” the doctor said quietly, his tone serious. “But there’s something you need to know. Something important.”
Curiosity piqued, Damien stopped in his tracks, his frustration momentarily forgotten. He took a seat, his eyes never leaving the doctor.
“What is it?” Damien asked, voice barely controlled.
The doctor hesitated, then took a deep breath. “I know the Luna told me not to say anything, but I have to. You deserve to know the truth.”
Damien frowned, his patience wearing thin. “Just spit it out.”
The doctor cleared his throat nervously, his eyes darting to the door as if worried someone might overhear. “She told me she was leaving the pack.”
The doctor nodded gravely. “She’s expecting twins.”

Damien’s breath hitched. The world around him seemed to blur as the doctor’s words sank in.
He staggered back against the wall, his thoughts a tangled mess. He didn’t know whether to be angry, relieved, or… terrified.
“Twins,” he murmured, as if repeating the word would make it real.
The doctor nodded solemnly. “I’m sorry, Alpha. I know you didn’t ask for this, but it’s the truth.”
Damien ran a hand through his hair, struggling to find his bearings. He couldn’t breathe. The one thing he had always wanted—an heir, a future for his pack—was right in front of him.
But Felicia was leaving. The woman he had betrayed and divorced just a few hours ago was carrying his children.
