I won't be dominated

"No! I'm so desperate to leave this place! I really don't want to be here anymore! You're scaring me!" My voice echoed throughout the house as I struggled to hold back my tears. "W-Why do I feel like this is normal for you? Aren't you disturbed by what those guys did to me?"

Despite returning from the hospital, neither Mary nor Aunt Julia had returned.

I couldn't comprehend how they weren't repulsed by such actions. Maxine's expression was horrifying when the scissor pierced my most delicate spot. She seemed to be relishing the sight of me in agony.

"Caroline, you have to understand—"

"Understand what?! Why isn't she being sent to prison? Is it because of her wealth?" I continued to scream uncontrollably.

Even though he tried to soothe me and hold my hand, I resisted. We were in my bedroom, and he was trying to stop me from departing. However, there was no need for him to worry anymore, as I was no longer his responsibility.

I didn't bring any belongings with me because I didn't own any of them. However, I felt hurt because he didn't utter a single word. My chest tightened, and in a fit of anger, I pushed him to his chest, repeatedly blaming him for the situation. "This is your fault! This is all because of you!"

I wouldn't have had to go through that if he hadn't been foolish and hurt the women he slept with. I wasn't entirely sure how much I disliked myself, but I did know that I hated my body. The idea that I was worthless kept crossing my mind.

"I'm sorry. It's my fault," he muttered.

I remained silent in response to his words. At least he was aware. He had been the one to blame for everything that had transpired. I had hoped I could escape the horrors that those men had inflicted upon me, but it had seemed impossible.

I found myself on my knees, hugging myself tightly. Although he had extended his hand to me, I had hesitated to accept it. After all, he had failed to take any action against Maxine for what she had done to me. I had been all too aware of the contents of the flash drive that she had in her possession.

A long silence fell upon us. I had no idea how many minutes we remained in our position until he suddenly broke the silence.

"I have an offer for you."

I looked up at him, took his hand, and stood up. He held on tightly. I couldn't help but wonder if his touch had a sexual undertone, and my hair stood on end in response.
