Given his position, he would definitely not dare to cause a scene outside of Josiah's office, unless he had someone backing him up. Holding Josiah's handwritten letter, Lysander covered the date with her palm and approached the door to open it.

Carol and Peter quickly positioned themselves in front of her, fearing that she might get hurt by the outsiders.

“No worries, they wouldn't dare.” After Lysander had a narrow escape from death, she had become quite familiar with the tactics of these kinds of people. They were just all bark and no bite.

The office door had barely swung open when the person wielding the safety hammer, ready to break it down, froze in their tracks. Then, in the blink of an eye, they retreated behind the project manager, Henry Fowler, whom Lysander had met once.

Henry was taken aback to find Lysander unexpectedly in the office, his eyes widening in surprise. “When did you come in?”

Lysander lowered her eyes slightly, paying him no attention.

Carol immediately responded, “Mr. Fowler, please be mindful of your words.”

Henry wanted to accuse Carol of riding on someone else's coattails, but seeing Lysander nearby, he had to consider the latter's status and reluctantly corrected himself. “Mrs. Guerra, I'm truly sorry. I hadn't noticed you before. This is a misunderstanding.”

Lysander then said in a soft voice, “It's okay, I just arrived myself. I took Josiah's private elevator.”

The reason Henry took the risk of causing trouble, despite the looming threat of future repercussions, was to figure out a way to transfer the money.

Although the personal seal was nowhere to be seen, Carol was around.

Regardless of whether it was through intimidation or temptation, as long as Carol was willing to “unofficially” pull some strings at the finance department, he was more than happy to share some of the benefits with her. After all, they could both prosper together.

“You've been fired.”

Henry turned around, pointing at Lysander incredulously. “Mrs. Guerra, I'm addressing you this way out of respect for Mr. Guerra. Don't think that just because you were once married to him you can do whatever you please. Everyone knows that he's—”

His words abruptly came to a halt, upon noticing the appointment letter in Lysander's hand.

Everyone in the entire company recognized Josiah's handwriting and seal.

Henry's face sank. He even dared to sneak a peek through the slightly ajar office door, afraid that Josiah might actually be inside.

Could this so-called disappearance be a mere setup?

Lysander was both firm and gentle, maintaining a calm demeanor as she asked, “Are you taking the severance package and leave on your own, or should I call the police and have you investigated?”

Undeniably, there was something off about Henry. However, she wasn't Josiah, and she couldn't control the ambitious individuals within the company. For now, the only option was to send them away with a severance package.
