He didn't address Lysander by her temporary position in the company but rather by the status bestowed upon her by Josiah. Although the question sounded reasonable, his attitude was clearly disrespectful toward her.

Carol genuinely wanted to assist Lysander, but given her role as the meeting's moderator, it wasn't appropriate to do so, as she couldn't show any form of favoritism. At most, she could only give the latter a subtle look.

“So it's not decided yet.” Josiah continued, “What do you plan to do with the large sum of money made available, Mrs. Guerra? Are you going to just let it sit there, or... do you have other plans?”

“Mr. Shelton, feel free to speak your mind.”

“I heard that you used to be part of the management at Thorne Constructions and Energies. You are the only daughter of the Thorne family. If you were to divert funds from Guerra Group to Thorne Constructions and Energies... Well, that would be... I'm just expressing my concerns, that's all.”

Lysander said, “Given that you're so well-informed about who I am, you must also know that I used to study medicine. As for laundering money, such a sophisticated maneuver is honestly beyond my capabilities.”

Jasper immediately backed down, changing his tune. “What we need to discuss now is choosing the new partner. Dredging up the past is pointless now.”

As he spoke, he subconsciously glanced at the director who had suggested this course of action. Seeing this, the director quickly averted his gaze, acting as if he was afraid of being implicated.
