"In truth, the sale of this property has been on the table for more than a day or two. If it's suitable, three days should be enough to consider," he offered her a graceful exit.

Eliza nodded gratefully. "Yeah, okay."

"You've really transformed into a powerhouse, nothing like the little Eliza I used to know." David handed her a glass of juice, admiration shining in his eyes.

Eliza felt a pang of guilt. She wouldn't have to wear her ambition so openly if it weren't for that million dollars she needed.

"I'm not some powerhouse. Life has just pushed me to be this way."

"I've heard about what your family has gone through these past few years."

He had discreetly gathered information, always quietly keeping tabs from the shadows. He wouldn't have reached out if there hadn't been a better opportunity. Running into her today was a surprise.

Eliza's lips curved slightly, not wanting to delve further. "I should head back then. Think it over."

"Alright, let me walk you out."

David walked Eliza to the door. After a few pleasantries, she lifted the hem of her dress and headed toward Casper's car.

As the car door closed, Casper’s lazy gaze finally settled on Eliza, "So, how did it go with your old flame?"

"Old flame?" Her smile was laced with defiance, her eyes scornful, "Mr. Casper, you're just trying to leverage David’s past feelings for me to achieve your goals, aren't you?"

"Exactly." His fingers interlocked in front of him, a mocking smile on his lips. "Did you bring any good news?"

"He said he'd consider it and promised an answer within three days."

"So, he hasn't agreed to sell the property to us yet." Casper shook his head in disappointment. "Looks like you won't be getting that million after all."

Eliza's eyes narrowed. "He said he'd consider the offer. If Welton International meets his expectations, he'll sell."

"I thought seeing you might get him so excited he'd forget about the money." Casper sneered.

"When did I promise you a million?" Casper frowned.

"On the way here, you clearly said..." she involuntarily clenched her fingers, dismayed at his backtracking. "...Casper, you promised me."

"I only said I'd consider it. I never agreed."

A playful smile lingered on his lips as if laughing at Eliza's naivety.

"So, you don't plan to give me the money, do you?" She stared at him intently, her lips tightly pressed.

Casper laughed leisurely, still enjoying the moment. "Depends on my mood."

"Fine, then I'll tell David right now that Welton International is backing out of buying the property."

Eliza picked up her phone to type, but Casper snatched it away and casually tossed it to Faithe.
