Casper’s face twitched twice. He pushed Eliza's head back under the water. This time, she didn't struggle. When he lifted her out again, she was nearly unconscious. He wrapped an arm around her waist and lifted her from the pool. "Do you really think getting mad at me is worth dying over?"
Eliza coughed up water, looking at him weakly, her chest heaving. The vast swimming pool area was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. He wrapped her in a towel and carried her out. She knew his punishment wasn’t over yet.
Back at Welton Estate, Casper pinned Eliza to the bed, claiming her in a twisted manner. Her body, with brutal honesty, told him she hadn’t been with anyone else. But he was driven mad. Jealousy had twisted him beyond recognition.
After venting his frustrations, he left her lying there and went to shower. Eliza sat on the large bed, hugging her knees, her hair a tangled mess. Hadn’t she endured enough?
In the past, she put up with everything for her mother and brother. She couldn't afford to die. She didn’t dare. But now, did she really have a reason to keep living? Her father was dead, her mother too, and although her brother was alive, whether he could ever be the same again was a mystery. She was the root cause of it all. She was the one who most deserved to die.
She opened a drawer and found a razor blade. She had always been afraid of pain ever since she was little. The blade was very sharp. It barely felt like anything as it sliced across her wrist, blood flowing out. One cut, two cuts, three cuts. It didn’t hurt, not at all.
One afternoon, just as the doctor left, Nova came in, leaning on crutches. “I heard you tried to kill yourself. Quite the temper,” Nova said with a sneer. “A few days ago, a thief broke into my place, and Casper stayed with me for a few days because he was worried about me being alone. It was just by chance, and we spent Valentine's Day together. What’s the big deal?”
“What are you trying to prove to me? That you’re loved?” Eliza calmly exposed her insecurity.
Nova’s face reddened with anger, but she lifted her chin defiantly. “It’s the truth. Casper loves me. We cuddled and watched movies all day, kissing... Casper is a good kisser. My whole body felt electrified. His hands were quite mischievous, making me all tingly...”
