Caleb shook his head, feeling a bit helpless. "It's probably... we were childhood friends, I guess."

Childhood friends?

He chuckled suddenly, a mix of self-mockery and resignation. Ruffling his messy hair, he tried to clear his head. "Yeah, that's nice."

Casper, teetering on his feet, tried to leave but was too drunk to fight off the dizziness. His body swayed uncontrollably. Seeing this, Caleb quickly reached out to steady him. "Bro, you've really had too much. Let's get you home."

There's a kind of drunk where it’s not the booze that gets you, but the mood you're in. Casper was that kind of drunk.

Just as Caleb was carefully helping Casper off the boat, they bumped into Eliza, Juan, and Chelsea.

But then, Caleb's foot slipped, and Casper lost his balance. The tall guy crashed to the ground like a leaf in a storm, his handsome face smacking the hard ground with a dull thud—utterly ungraceful and pitiful.

"Bro, are you okay?"

Caleb was frantic, fumbling to help Casper up. Eliza hurried over. "Is he drunk?"

"Yeah, sis-in-law, he was in a bad mood and drank way too much," Caleb sighed, struggling to lift Casper. The dude's face was smeared with mud and blood from the fall, looking a complete mess. "He's really not in a good place. Bro, wake up..."

Casper's face was marked with clear scars, and Eliza felt a pang of sadness. She quickly called Juan over. "Juan, come help us get him into the car. We can't move him alone."

Juan nodded and came over without hesitation. The three of them carefully loaded Casper into the car. He was out cold, slumped crookedly against the seat, his body sliding down until his face was buried in the soft upholstery.

"Caleb, you can call a ride-share. Elle’s not your chauffeur," Chelsea insisted, pushing Eliza towards Juan. "Juan, keep an eye on Elle. Don't let her be too soft-hearted."

Eliza thought Chelsea’s hostility was unnecessary. They were just friends now, not like before. Besides, Casper had helped her a lot. It was only fair to return the favor.

"Alright, I’ll do it."

Chelsea was stunned. "Eliza, are you crazy?"

"I'll take him home and come right back," Eliza reassured her. "Don't worry, he's too drunk to do anything."

Chelsea sighed but didn’t argue further.
