Keep him company?

Eliza couldn't bring herself to do it.

She hated giving people the wrong idea, but she could at least get in touch with Susan for him and have her come back sooner.

"Hand me your phone," she said.

Casper didn't know why she needed his phone, but he complied, pulling it out of his pocket and handing it to her.

"Here you go."

"What's the passcode?" she asked.

"0919," he replied.

Eliza froze, phone in hand.

September 19th, the day she and Casper got married. The Welton family had chosen that date, hoping they'd stay together forever and grow old side by side.

What a joke...

Why would Casper use that date as his phone passcode?

She didn't want to know.

She entered the passcode and started scrolling through Casper's contacts.

There were tons of names, mostly business contacts, with very few personal ones.

Finally, she found one labeled 'Wife.'

That had to be it.

"I'll call Susan. I can wait for her to come before I leave."

She dialed the number.

Her own phone started ringing.

Eliza blinked in surprise and quickly checked her phone.

---Casper?

Casper had saved her number as 'Wife'?

Her puzzled eyes fell on the man with his eyes closed. Was he out of his mind?

"Casper," she nudged him.

He cracked his eyes open just a bit. "Hmm?"

"Why did you save my number as 'Wife'? Aren't you worried your fiancée will misunderstand? Besides, am I your wife? Fantasizing about someone else like this isn't right, is it?"

"Then who are you?" he asked again.

"What are you doing?" She watched in disbelief as Casper turned off her phone and tossed it into a drawer. "Casper, why'd you take my phone?"

"I don't want you going to another man," he said, frowning like a sulky child.

Eliza: ...

What was his deal?

What did it matter to him?

"It's not... you..."

She was about to say something when she saw him stagger to his feet and head to the bathroom.

Soon, the sound of vomiting echoed through the room...

Eliza was stuck, unsure whether to stay or leave.

Gently pushing open the bathroom door, she found him disheveled and leaning over the toilet in an uncomfortable position.

"Are you okay?" she asked, worried.

He waved her off, as if to say he was fine.

"How about you take a bath?" she suggested, walking over to the bathtub and turning on the water. "Keep an eye on the water. I'll make you some hangover tea. Just wait a bit, okay?"

Downstairs in the kitchen, Eliza watched the hangover tea bubbling in the glass pot, her thoughts drifting back to the early days of their marriage.
