"Are you seriously mad at me?" Renee asked, her face clouded with frustration.

All she wanted was a bit of cash, not his entire bank account. After all, Daniel was the one who messed up in their marriage, and this was just him making amends.

Daniel snatched the divorce papers from the table.

He crumpled them in his fist and tore them up, saying, "Let's deal with the divorce later. I've got other things to handle right now."

"Are we postponing the divorce or the money?" Renee challenged, watching him rush around. "Daniel, we've dragged this divorce out long enough. I've finally made peace with it, so don't stall."

"I don't have time for this, I gotta go."

Daniel was in no mood to sit and chat with Renee. His blood boiled just thinking about Kate's betrayal.

Meanwhile, Casper hung up the phone and sat next to Eliza, ready to speak when the doorbell rang again.

He got up to answer it.

Gabe was at the door, and Casper's face tightened a bit. "What's up?"

"I heard Eliza had a fall into the lake today. Is she alright?" Gabe's concern was evident, maybe a bit too much so.

Casper's eyes narrowed with suspicion. "She's fine."

"Can I come in and see her?" Gabe asked, holding two big shopping bags. "I brought some stuff—some wine, ginger tea to warm up, and a few other things..."

Casper cut him off sharply, "Are you suggesting I can't take care of my own wife, Mr. Gabe? You can take your stuff back, we don't need it."

"It's just a friendly gesture, Mr. Casper, no need to read into it." Gabe stepped back, handing the bags to Casper. "Meeting good friends in a new place is rare. I value that. Please pass these on to Eliza."

Casper didn't want to take them. Not one bit. But he also didn't want to lose his cool in front of Gabe.

With a scowl, he accepted the bags. "Thanks on behalf of my wife."
