Chapter 203

Evadne thought angrily,

Was that man still outside? What on earth was he doing?

Was he trying to pull a pity card? Did he think she was stupid enough to fall for such an amateur trick?

Evadne was about to turn back to her room in anger, but after a few steps, she stopped again.

The weather was not as hot as it was in summer. In the late autumn of Elmsworth, the temperature at night could even drop below freezing.

Thaddeus had been standing outside for three to four hours, and his clothes were thin, If he didn’t leave and froze to death at the door, wouldn’t she have to deal with the police? What a hassle!

Thinking of this, Evadne quickly returned to her room and picked up her cell phone to call Thaddeus.

But his phone was off!

Evadne was completely baffled by his behavior.

Thaddeus’ pity act didn’t move her. Instead, it aroused her curiosity.

So, she quickly went to the door, grabbed a large black umbrella, and walked out.

When Thaddeus saw the woman coming towards him, he thought he was hallucinating due to standing in the rain for too long and the exhaustion and cold.

It wasn’t until Evadne stood in front of him that he realized what was going on. He felt a wave of warmth in his heart, and his eyes were filled with joy. “What the hell are you doing? Can you stop?” Evadne yelled at him sharply.

“Aren’t you cold, dressed like that?” Thaddeus asked instead of answering her question.

Thaddeus remained calm, trying to take off his suit to give to her but found that he was completely soaked. He had to stop awkwardly.

“Why did you turn off your phone?” Evadne asked angrily.

“My phone ran out of battery,” Thaddeus answered honestly, like a henpecked husband being scolded by his wife.

He seemed to quite enjoy her harsh tone. He was like a man who liked a good scolding.

“So, you were planning to stand out here all night if I didn’t come out?”

“Yes, I have something to tell you”

Evadne laughed in anger. “Thaddeus, why do you always seem so basic to me? Can’t you come up with something more sophisticated than the pity card? You’re the CEO of the Abernathy Group, not some thug, right?”

“As long as I can see you, that’s all that matters.” Thaddeus’s voice was cold, but his eyes were too bright to ignore.

Evadne was so angry she was panting. Her thin clothes were also getting wet, and his gaze on her was getting deeper.

Good thing he had the self-control of a soldier, or else who could resist such a tempting sight?

“Couldn’t sleep tonight?”

“What?”

“I remember you never used to wake up at night. You always slept straight till morning”

Evadne’s heart jolted, and her grip on the umbrella tightened

Back when they were newlyweds, they used to share a bed for about half a year.

Even in the same bed, Thaddeus only gave her his back, as if there was a huge canyon between them.

She knew that Thaddeus was a light sleeper, but she didn’t expect him to pay attention to her.

“Weren’t you saying you had something to tell me? Say it quickly. It’s freezing!” Evadne started to shiver.

“Let’s talk in the car.”

Thaddeus took the umbrella from her hand and quickly opened the car door, pushing her into the car without hesitation.

Once in the car, the air was filled with the smell of dampness

Under the dim light, Evadne noticed that Thaddeus’s thin l*ps were slightly trembling, and his hand resting on his knee was starting to turn a bit purple.

She pursed her l*ps. Suddenly, Thaddeus took out a blanket and wrapped her tightly in it.

Hearing the faint sound of a sports car engine outside, she knew he was gone, then she slowly walked to the edge of the bed, looking out

At that moment, a pair of warm large hands gently landed on her shoulders.

She was first startled, and then she gave a bitter smile, “Cassius, what are you doing up so late? You scared me. How come you didn’t make a sound when you walked?”

“I made a sound, but you were too absorbed.”

Cassius heaved a sigh, wrapped his arms around his sister’s shoulders, and stood by the window looking out with her.

“Did he leave?”

“Sorry, Cassius, I disturbed your rest.”

Evadne shyly lowered her long eyelashes and leaned on Cassius’s shoulder, “Just now, Thaddeus came to tell me that he’s found Caroline for me.”

“Oh? Just like that?”

“Just like that.”

They fell into silence.

After a while, Cassius gently squeezed Evadne’s shoulder and asked with a smile, “If, Thaddeus fell in love with you.”

“Cassius!” Evadne frowned, her tone reproachful.

Tm just saying hypothetically. If Thaddeus fell in love with you, willing to give, dedicate, and sacrifice for you, would you give him another chance?”

Cassius looked at her seriously. “After all, he’s the man you’ve devoted all your youth to love

“No.”

Evadne answered without hesitation, a trace of bitter pain slowly rising in her heart, “Cassius, by now, I don’t care whether I forgive him or not. I’m scared. I’ve been wavering between disappointment and expectation for too long. I’ve had enough of the bitterness of love. I don’t want to be flustered over a man’s emotions anymore. I don’t want to wait for him until I can’t sleep. I don’t want to make a table of delicious food and not get a compliment from him. Cassius, I’m really tired. I don’t want to repeat those days anymore.”

“You’re right, Thaddeus has po right to regret how he treated you.”

Cassius held his sister’s cold hand tightly, sighing sadly, “He’s not good enough for you. If he regrets, he should regret it for a lifetime.”
