Evadne thought angrily,

Was that man still outside? What on earth was he doing?

Was he trying to pull a pity card? Did he think she was stupid enough to fall for such an amateur trick?

Thaddeus remained calm, trying to take off his suit to give to her but found that he was completely soaked. He had to stop awkwardly.

“Why did you turn off your phone?” Evadne asked angrily.

“My phone ran out of battery,” Thaddeus answered honestly, like a henpecked husband being scolded by his wife.

He seemed to quite enjoy her harsh tone. He was like a man who liked a good scolding.

“So, you were planning to stand out here all night if I didn’t come out?”

“Yes, I have something to tell you”

Evadne laughed in anger. “Thaddeus, why do you always seem so basic to me? Can’t you come up with something more sophisticated than the pity card? You’re the CEO of the Abernathy Group, not some thug, right?”

“As long as I can see you, that’s all that matters.” Thaddeus’s voice was cold, but his eyes were too bright to ignore.

Evadne was so angry she was panting. Her thin clothes were also getting wet, and his gaze on her was getting deeper.

“Weren’t you saying you had something to tell me? Say it quickly. It’s freezing!” Evadne started to shiver.

“Let’s talk in the car.”

Thaddeus took the umbrella from her hand and quickly opened the car door, pushing her into the car without hesitation.
