Evadne was in her office, scrutinizing the banquet plan with a seriousness that surpassed even when she organized Ada’s wedding. 

Last time, her diligence was due to Ada being an important business partner. This time, it was because Myra was her family. 

“Miss Evadne, you have been working too hard, pulling three all–nighters in a row. Take a break, Jason, her assistant, brought her a glass of orange juice, fearing the constant intake of coffee wouldn’t be good for her stomach. 

“I can’t rest yet. The banquet hall is all set but Myra’s gown isn’t ready,” Evadne put down the files, massaging her aching temples. 

At her age, most other girls would be out shopping with their besties, travelling around the world, or experiencing the bitter–sweetness of love. But all she could do was immerse herself in piles of paperwork and dry figures, leading the hotel staff, thinking about how to improve performance. 

She was a strong woman, but not made of iron. Feeling tired was only human. 

“Arrange something for me later. I need to visit Camille’s studio, Evadne instructed. 

“Is it about finishing Myra’s gown?” 

“Yes, we won’t make it in time if we don’t put in extra hours.” 

Jason sighed, feeling sorry for her. 

At this moment, his phone vibrated. 

Cassius sent him a message on WhatsApp, the list of guests for Myra’s birthday banquet, with a note saying “pass it to Miss Evadne“.
