Meanwhile, Thaddeus was convalescing in a private villa in the suburbs. 

Having just taken his final dose from the first course of medication, he knew that tonight Evadne would surely send someone over with more Not that he was confident she still harbored any feelings for him.

Earlier in the day, Thaddeus felt fine except for the chest pain. However, as night fell, he was suddenly hit with a high fevert

He changed into a fresh set of pajamas, weak and unsteady as he made his way downstairs for a glass of water 

That was when the doorbell rang 

Thaddeus, puzzled slowly made his way over and turned on the video intercom.

“Thaddeus, I know you’re in there, open the door” Evadne’s face was stern, her cool gaze fixed on the camera.

“Are you really dead or playing dead? Open up” 

Evadne’s beautiful eyes were filled with irritation, one hand on her hip, “If you have a will, make it now, if not, I’m coming in to collect your b*dy!” Thaddeus was so taken aback by her sharp words he couldn’t help but cough.

Evadne was getting impatient, her fiery temper causing her to pound on the door, “If you don’t come out, I’m not leaving” 

To her surprise, before she could finish her sentence, the door swung open. 

Standing before her in a deep–blue pajama set, Thaddale but still stunningly handsome, a weak yet mesmerizing smile on his face. “Ms. Evadne, it’s cold outside, come in.” 

He couldn’t bear to see her out in the cold, it would break his heart. 

Looking at the noticeably thinner Thaddeus, Evadne’s heart skipped a beat. 

His complexion was visibly deteriorating. 

Hadrit he been taking his medication on time? He seemed to be getting better just a short while ago. How did he end up like this? 

Biting her lower l*p, Evadne stepped inside 

Thaddeus, mustering all his energy, led her to the living room. 

“How did you find me? Did Gordon tell you?” 

“Don’t blame Mr. Gordon, he did it in your best interest.” 

Evadne sat down on the sofa, foung him with a stern gaze, her voice cool and detached, revealing no hint of concern, “You barely have anyone reliable around you if you fire Gordon over this, then you truly are a fool. Working with such a rash ruler would be pointless, I’ll hire Mr. Gordon to work with us when that time comes, then don’t you dare

“Ms. Evadne, you’re overthinking” Thaddeus locked eyes with her. 

Despite trying to keep his composure, the corners of his dry l*ps couldn’t help but lift into a smile due to his inner joy, “Gordon has been with me for so many years. Í wouldn’t bear to let him leave” 

He was just afraid she’d worry 

Suddenly he remembered that night, when Evadne stood beside Avery, firmly distancing herself from him, her entire being repulsed and annoyed by him.

She cleared her throat placed the bottle of medicine on the table, and stood up. “The second course of treatment, remember to take it on time I’m leaving 

“You don’t have to, take it back Thaddeus shook his head 

“Thaddeus, what do you mean? Don’t you want to live anymore?” 

Evadne frowned, “You, a rising star in the business world worth nearly a hundred billion dollars, can you bear to die?”
