Chapter 350 

Evadne’s face was aflame in an instant, her dainty waist twisting and her slender, alabaster legs kicking restlessly. 

Her hands, which had been gripping the man’s collar, now transformed into fists, pummeling his iron–like chest. Her hands were sore from the punching, but for Thaddeus, it was like being tickled, and he was enjoying it! 

“I told you to listen to me, but you didn’t. If you don’t behave, I’ll have to carry you.” 

Thaddeus‘ long lashes lowered, his eyes cold, but with a hint of unrestrained affection flickering within them. 

He couldn’t control it. 

Was it still love if it could be controlled? 

“Why should I listen to you? Who are you to me? I won’t listen! I won’t!” Evadne’s cheeks were flushed with embarrassment, and she struggled even more fiercely. 

“Behave, or I’ll k*ss you.” Thaddeus‘ Adam’s apple bobbed, his eyes slightly narrowed. 

“Beast!” Evadne recoiled, biting her lower l*p in fear. 

Thaddeus lifted his thin l*ps and, with a sudden mischievous look, let go of her! 

“Ah!” 

Evadne squeezed her eyes shut, breaking out in a cold sweat. Her arms instinctively wrapped around Thaddeus‘ neck. 

His expression remained frosty, but a hint of softness entered his eyes. 

Thaddeus then dragged Evadne upstairs, leaving a crowd of people behind without a second thought. 

This left the Fairhaven family with no place to hide their embarrassment. 

But now that they had arrived, if the marriage negotiations fell through, it would be a disgrace. They’d lose face. 

“Dad, what do we do now?” 

Mrs. Fairhaven whispered anxiously to Barry. “Thaddeus‘ attitude is clear. He doesn’t want to accept Edith. He doesn’t even want to talk to us.” 

“Grandpa. Are you just going to stand by while I’m bullied? I’m your granddaughter!” Edith cried pitifully. 

Barry, maintaining the composure of a mature gentleman, would have already started hurling insults if he were any other man. And they would be very unpleasant! But he was losing his patience! 

“Mr. Frederic, is this how you handle things? My granddaughter’s reputation has been ruined by your son, and he’s openly flirting with his ex–wife in front of us. Do you think the Fairhaven family is easy to bully?” 

Barry, in his rage, picked up a teacup from the coffee table and hurled it to the ground! 

The Fairhaven family’s b*dyguards, as if taking the shattered cup as a signal, quickly surrounded them. Elspeth, noticing the shift, paled and hid behind Frederic. 

The Fairhaven family was notorious for its underworld origins. No one in Elmsworth was unaware of it! 

The current situation looked as if they were about to start a war with the Abernathy family! 

“Mr. Barry, what do you think you’re doing?” Frederic was also furious, “The Abernathy family isn’t easy to bully either!” 

“Hmph, don’t worry. We live in a law–abiding society now. I’m tired of resorting to violence.” Barry’s eyes darkened, his jaw set, “I just want to let you know that what Mr. Thaddeus has done tonight has angered me. And when’l get angry, there might be consequences.” 

Frederic clenched his fist, barely able to contain his anger. 

This was a blatant threat! 

The Fairhaven Group was one of the top ten conglomerates in the country, with businesses all over the continent. Although they were not as prominent as the Ashbourne family and hadn’t entered the ranks of the richest families, they were always neutral. If the Fairhaven Group decided to ally with their sworn enemy, the Chambers family, the pressure would be unbearable for the Abernathy Group! 

“Grandpa, you really can’t behave, can you? I leave for a few days and you’re already causing trouble here?” 

The sound of intimidating footsteps echoed in the hall. 

Jareth entered the room, his handsome face stern. 

Elspeth’s eyes lit up at the sight of him. This man was her future son–in–law! 

Having the Fairhaven family’s eldest son as her son–in–law was like a dream come true. Those wealthy ladies who used to look down on her would have to curry favor with her in the future! 

“Mr. Jareth!” The b*dyguards bowed in unison. 

“Jareth, what are you doing here?” Barry’s face darkened. 

“What else would I be doing here? Of course, I’m here for Thaddeus.” 

Jareth coldly glanced at the Fairhaven family and their b*dyguards, who were so frightened that they remained silent, “It’s a good thing I came. Otherwise, I would have missed this drama.” 

In fact, he had heard about the situation from his girlfriend, Marilla. 

He had originally been out discussing business matters, but Marilla had received a call from their maid, Linda. Linda had told her about the trouble Thaddeus was in. The Fairhaven family had come to force a marriage, causing chaos. Concerned for her brother, Marilla had contacted Jareth for help. 

Whenever his beloved Marilla asked for something. Jareth obliged without hesitation. Especially when it involved his best friend. No matter how big the business deal, he had left it behind and rushed over. 

“Good, good. Now, hurry up and get your good friend down here!” Barry said angrily.

Jareth had spotted Evadne’s car, knowing she had arrived and was likely with Thaddeus at the moment. A pleased smile danced on his l*ps, “Evadne and Thaddeus are enjoying their moment, why should I intrude and be the third wheel? I’m not that type of person.” 

Edith trembled with fury, glaring at her own brother with venomous eyes! 

When Jareth saw her expression, his heart clenched in pain. 

This was his little sister, whom he had cradled since she was a baby. Now, she was looking at him as if he was her enemy. 

The innocent little girl who used to cling to him, demanding him to buy her dolls and ice cream, seemed to be lost forever. “Romantic moment? Are you kidding me?” 

Mrs. Fairhaven couldn’t stand hearing this. She interjected, “Didn’t Evadne and Thaddeus divorce a long time ago? How could this be possible?” 

“Love is unpredictable.” Jareth replied, his eyes glazing over with an icy sheen. “Speaking of family background, looks, and talent, isn’t Evadne superior to Edith in every aspect?” Barry choked on his words, taken aback. 

If he hadn’t met Evadne, he could have rebutted.. 

But he had just seen her, a woman of unparalleled beauty. Comparatively, Edith was like a chick that hadn’t fully grown, no match for Evadne. 

“Do you really want Edith to compete with Evadne for a man? Not to mention the possible offence to the Ashbourne family, even without that, with a beauty like Evadne around, Thaddeus wouldn’t even spare a glance for Edith,” Jareth settled casually on the couch, as if he was at home. 

“Jareth, you’re Edith’s brother. How could you speak about your sister like that?” 

Mrs. Fairhaven was so angry she felt like vomiting blood, “If Thaddeus wasn’t interested in Edith, how did that night happen? Was he forced at gunpoint to meet Edith?” 

“No one held a gun to Thad’s head, but someone was pulling strings behind the scenes, giving Edith advice and crafting a seamless plan to trick Thad into meeting her in a hotel,” Jareth said, his gaze on Edith sending a chill down everyone’s spine. 

“Mr. Jareth, is that true?” 

Alva slammed her hand on her thigh, exclaiming, “I knew it! Mr. Thaddeus is a disciplined man, I’ve watched him grow up. I can’t believe he would lose his control just at the sight of a woman! If that was the case. Mrs. Abernathy wouldn’t love our young master so much! There must be a problem.” 

“What do you mean by that? Are you implying that my daughter seduced your young master?” Mrs. Fairhaven’s eyes were red with anger. 

“I didn’t say that, you did.” Alva rolled her eyes and stuck out her tongue. 

“You! You insufferable woman!” 

Mrs. Fairhaven clutched her chest, gasping for breath, “Elspeth, is this how your servants behave? Do they always speak to guests like this, and you don’t do anything about it?“.
