“Do you think Ward will talk? He seemed pretty defiant earlier. Thaddeus asked, his voice low. 

“He will! Trust me, I saw a flicker of hesitation in him. Otherwise, why would he even sit there and listen to us for so long? He might not even have agreed to meet us.” Evadne was adamant. 

Thaddeus nodded slightly in agreement. 

“But right now, he doesn’t trust me, and he’s still living a decent life. He doesn’t see the need to risk it all and cooperate with me.” 

“A decent life?”
