Once I came into view he was halfway up the stairs barely holding his steps. It was clear he was drunk. I checked the main door to ensure he had locked it and switched off the lights. A loud crash upstairs halted my steps on my way out. At first, I assumed it was an accident but it happened again and again and my curiosity perked.
His bedroom door was slightly open, and when I peeked in, a stench of alcohol hit me. I pushed the door wider and saw three broken bottles of Sassicaia Bolgheri on the floor next to the shattered frame. Next to the night stand lay a wedding band inscribed 14th July. It can't be a coincidence that today is 14 of July as well. He was not in the bedroom, nor the bathroom and just when I was about to check the closet, I heard him cough from the balcony.
I found him with a lit cigarette on hand, spread on the wicker, eyes on the ceiling. His eyes fell on me when he sensed intrusion and I found myself taking a step back at the enraged look in his eyes.
"What the hell are you doing here?" he spat glaring dangerously.
"What happened ?" I asked instead, narrowing my eyes suspiciously, which earned me a smirk as he put out the cigarette and stood abruptly. I let out a nervous breath, turned around and went back to the room. He was right behind me, the warmth of his breath hitting my neck.
" Sir..." I attempted feebly when he draped a hand on my waist and pulled me back against him.
I fought back a moan as I struggled against his hold.
"Stop wiggling," I stilled and held my breath as he tightened his grip on me." Why are you here?" He asked, kissing my neck lightly,
" I heard a..." I trailed when he abruptly turned me to face him. He exhaled deeply studying my face, I scoffed, making him chuckle lightly.
"Are you okay?" I tried asking.
"Yes,"
" Right," I muttered, gesturing to the trashed room. His face hardened and I instantly regretted having pushed the issue. Before I could muster an apology, he muttered.
" Please leave,"
He looked away, and it hurt. I took hesitant steps but turned to look at him, "what is it with you? Sometimes you act like you want me and other times you are just a jerk, why?"
