Chapter 431: Maybe There Will Be a Handful of Harassment in the Future.
Manchester City News headquarters.
Editorial room.
Looking at the video on the phone, Kane frowned. "Was it filmed on the spot?"
The man standing by the desk nodded. "Yeah, I got it at great risk. If it is exposed, then we are the source of the first-hand news."
Kane watched the video again and said, "Well, I heard that Sandy was going to sign with Gotrend Entertainment after her contract with Simsang Entertainment expires. If we release the news now, there would be no way back for her."
"That has nothing to do with us. We are reporters. Others' life or death isn't our job description." The man said indifferently.
Kane shook his head. "Well, you're still too young."
The man frowned unconsciously. "What do you mean?"
Kane pointed to the chair in front of his desk, "Please sit down."
After hesitating for a few seconds, the man took the chair and sat down. Thinking for a few seconds, the man looked at Kane and asked, "You have any other plans?"
Kane took a cigarette from the table and handed it to the man. "Sandy has been famous in the entertainment industry for the past few years. She has owned it through her own efforts and without relying on anyone. In addition, Simsang Entertainment has been kind enough to her for the past two years."
"But you just said Sandy is going to sign with Gotrend Entertainment after her contract expires."
Kane replied. "Well, maybe it's just a rumor. No one will know the result until the end."
That done, Kane looked at the man sitting in front of him. "We'd better put the video on hold now."
Hearing his words, the man was very confused. "Kane, this is first-hand. Are you sure you want to keep it?"
Kane looked at the man. "If Sandy renews her contract after it expires and stays at Simsang Entertainment. Do you think Simsang Entertainment would have any more cooperation with us?"
"What if she doesn't?"
Kane asked, "Well, are you sure Gotrend Entertainment will renew our contract?"
They were in a dilemma.
"If so, the video is useless at all."
Kane took two puffs of his cigarette. "No. Maybe it's of great value."
"You mean?"
Kane raised his hand to put out the unfinished cigarette butt in the ashtray on the table. "I'll deal with this matter. Don't worry about it. What you have to remember is that only you and me know the video. If there's someone else knowing its existence, no one would know what will happen."
The man nodded and said, "Don't worry. I won't do such stupid things naturally. I still want to keep my job."
Kane nodded. "Glad we are on the same page."
That done, Kane looked at him and said, "Get on with your stuff."
The man got up, bowed to Kane, and left the room.
After the man left, Kane played the video again.
It was Sandy who kissed the man leaning against the wall voluntarily in the video.
Kane was not silly. He had thought about that there was a chance that they were rehearsing for the film.
However, there was no one else in this video except Sandy and the man in front of her.
As long as they insisted on their reports with the video and Sandy didn't have enough evidence, her job would be affected.
In the entertainment industry, there were more than just one or two people who wanted Sandy to fall off the pinnacle.
Everyone was jealous. As long as Sandy had any love affairs, there would be a number of people who want to pull her from the top and trample her down.
Kane stared at the video for a long time. Finally, he picked up his phone and dialed out.
After the call was made, it rang several times before being answered.
"Hello, Mr. Hughes! Kane Porter, editor of Manches City News."
"Hello, Mr. Porter."
Haider asked politely, "What's wrong, Mr. Porter?"
Haider and Kane only cooperated once before.
And it was just a temporary partnership.
Sometimes they would even stand on the opposite side, so their relationship didn't seem to be very good.
But in private, Kane could still tell which was more important.
Compared with Simsang Entertainment's CEO, Kane would be on Haider's side without any hesitation.
Haider asked so directly that Kane didn't said implicitly and told Haider his purpose of this call.
After that, Haider snickered. "So what do you mean? Would you like me to pay for you for the news before she signs with Gotrend Entertainment or you want to know something else?"
Kane was clever. After Haider's words, he laughed lightly, "Mr. Hughes, that's not what I meant."
Haider asked, "Well, so why do you call?"
Kane said: "I just wonder if Gotrend Entertainment will sign Sandy after her contract expires."
"Well, you know that it's not up to me in regard to the employment of the actors though I'm the manager of Gotrend Entertainment. The actors would take into consideration that whether Gotrend Entertainment is suitable for them or not before making decisions."
"Of course, no matter it's the actor or the company, we do need to communicate with each other before the final result."
Kane naturally understood the meaning of Haider's words.
"I see."
Haider smiled. "Kane, you're clever. You know, somebody seemed have nothing but if you dare to do anything to her, there would be a handful of harassment in the future."
Haider said with a hint of warning.
Kane replied, "I got it. I'll consider carefully what you said."
"That's alright. You can call in at my office at your convenience."
"OK. I'll leave you to it."
That done, Kane hung up.
After thinking for a while, Kane took out a business card from a drawer beside.
It was given by Sandy's agent last time when they had the interview.
Kane put it in his pocket casually after getting it and threw it in the drawer when he returned to the office.
Before calling Sandy's agent, Kane recalled the conversation with Haider. After making sure that he had not misunderstood it, he dialed out.
The phone was answered quickly.
"This is Jones. Who's that?"
The voice coming from the other side of the phone was alienated, mixed with a bit of defense.
Kane introduced himself. "Miss. Riley, I'm Kane Porter, the editor of Manches City News."
On hearing his intro, Jones subconsciously glanced at Sandy, who was sitting on the chair and sending messages with a smile. Then she said, "Mr. Porter, long time no see."
