Chapter 478: Forced Emotions Don't Last Long
Yanis and Anika looked around the hall before finally finding the Old Mr. Duncan in the back. Yanis was surprised to see Iris there as well.
"Mr. Duncan," Yanis greeted him.
The Old Mr. Duncan stopped talking and looked over when he heard Yanis' voice. "You're here?"
Yanis nodded and made eye contact with Iris. "Mr. Duncan."
In front of other people, Yanis would still be polite with the manners to him.
Iris nodded in response to Yanis and then looked at Anika, who was standing next to Yanis. "Miss Lawrence."
Iris had only learned of Anika's identity later on. They had been in contact more often recently because they had a common topic of discussion.
Yanis introduced Anika to the Old Mr. Duncan. "The Old Mr. Duncan, this is Zane's sister."
Yanis then turned to Anika. "This is the Old Mr. Duncan."
Anika smiled at the Old Mr. Duncan and addressed him respectfully. "Mr. Duncan."
The Old Mr. Duncan was about to speak, but someone came up to him and whispered something in his ear. He then turned to the three people in front of him and said softly, "You can chat for a while. I'll come and find you later."
Iris looked at the Old Mr. Duncan. "Should I leave by myself later?"
"Up to you," the Old Mr. Duncan replied, " up to your next appointments."
Iris nodded and watched the Old Mr. Duncan walk away with the person who had spoken to him. He then looked back at Yanis. "I thought you weren't going to come."
"I didn't want to, but I had to give the Old Mr. Duncan face," Yanis replied in a low voice.
"If he didn't have any connection with the Ellis family, he wouldn't have come either," Iris said, looking in the direction the Old Mr. Duncan had left in.
"The Old Mr. Duncan likes to save others' face," Yanis chuckled.
"He's very concerned about his image," Iris agreed. She then looked around and saw Zane walking towards them. "Mr. Lawrence is here too?"
"He didn't have anything to do this morning, so he came along," Yanis replied.
Meanwhile, on the second floor of the art exhibition, Lana stood by the railing and looked at the people in front of her. Her exquisitely drawn eyebrows furrowed slightly, and her gaze was fixed on Yanis, who was standing next to Zane. Her eyes were filled with an indescribable chill, as if she were jealous.
"They don't look good together at all," Lana said coldly.
Julia glanced at Yanis before turning back to Lana and saying softly, "Lana, forced emotions don't last long."
Lana looked at Julia and asked, "Are you talking about me or Yanis?"
Julia's eyebrows twitched slightly, and she opened her mouth to say something. However, when she met Lana's gaze, the words died on her lips.
But thinking about what Finnley said last night, Julia was still a little unsure, "Lana, you and Zane are not possible, you should have known from the beginning..."
"Julia."
Before Julia could finish her sentence, Lana interrupted Julia, "You're my best friend. Shouldn't you be on my side on all conditions?"
"But Lana, relationships can only last as long as you love each other. Zane doesn't have you in his heart. You surely know that."
The faint smile on Lana's face disappeared, and her expression was completely cold. "Julia, I thought you would be on my side unconditionally, but it seems that I overestimated myself."
After saying these words, Lana bypassed Julia and left.
Julia reached out to grab Lana's hand, but she avoided it.
"Lana, I didn't mean that, I just..."
"You don't have to explain, I have to go first."
Lana didn't give Julia a chance to finish her sentence, and left.
Julia wanted to go after her, but she was called out by Finnley who came out of the innermost room, "Julia."
Hearing Finnley's voice, Julia had to stop her steps and turned to look at Finnley standing behind her, "Finney, what's wrong?"
"What are you doing there?" Finnley walked over to Julia. "Lana's here too?"
Julia hummed, "I may have upset her."
Finnley looked at Julia, "What did you say? "
Julia opened her mouth, trying to talk about what just happened, but on second thought, she swallowed her words.
"Nothing, I will go to her later to explain. "
Julia looked at Finnley, "Why are you out? Where are Mom and Dad?"
"They're with Dominic, talking to Mr. Duncan about the stupid thing you did yesterday." Finnley said this while patting on Julia's forehead ironically."Do not say I did not warn you as a brother, Lana and Vincent although are brother and sister, the two of them are not the same type of people. Lana this little girl can be a handful. You are not her opponent. "
"Brother, Lana is my friend! I forbid you to talk about her like that." Julia lowered her voice.
Finnley eh, "Okay, okay, okay, no more talk, no more talk."
Julia looked at Finnley, "What are you calling me for?"
"Mom and Dad want you to come in for a minute."
Finnley finished and paused for a few seconds. "I think they want you to apologize to Yanis."
Julia said, "You don't want me to apologize to her?"
Finnley was just about to speak when Julia's voice came back, "I saw Zane coming too."
Finnley raised his eyebrows when he heard Julia's words, "You saw him?"
Julia raised her finger and pointed in the direction of the downstairs, "Isn't that guy standing there?"
Finnley looked down in the direction Julia was pointing, and just as he was about to speak, he saw Lana carrying a glass of wine and walking in the direction of Zane and the others.
Finnley immediately wrinkled his brow, "Isn't she gone for being angry?"
Julia also did not expect Lana to go to Zane, and her good-looking eyebrows also frowned "With so many people here, she will not go too far."
Finnley whispered, "Today is for Mom and Dad. If anything happens and our two families have some arguments, how will you clean the mess?"
Finnley turned and prepared to go down. He walked two steps and turned back, looking at Julia. "You go in first, Mom and Dad are still waiting for you."
Julia said, "Got it."
Finnley went straight down the stairs to the lobby on the first floor.
Julia stood in front of the railing looking down the hall, and her wrinkled eyebrows could not help but tighten even more.
In her memory, Lana shouldn't have been such a person.
At least not a person who did not know how to behave.
But today's Lana made Julia feel strange for a moment.
