Chapter 480: Advising Her Not to Have Crooked Thoughts
Perhaps Finnley's words were too serious, causing Lana to furrow her brows. "How did my behavior become related to the Griffiths family?"
Finnley looked at Lana and intended to say something, but seeing her like that, he knew his words would not have much effect. And It would make him feel like he was being mean.
With this in mind, Finnley said helplessly, "Lana, I'm not trying to get in your way you or lecture you. I'm just offering advice objectively as sn outsider. Of course, if you think I'm wrong, or if you think I'm meddling, then you can just ignore what I said, or if you're unhappy with what I said earlier, you can scold me a bit, and I'll take it."
Lana listened to Finnley's words and smiled softly, "Finnley, I can't scold you, even if I wanted to. You should thank Julia."
Lana turned around and put her wine glass on the tray of a passing waiter. She then looked at Finnley and said, "I know you said those things for my own good, but Finnley, even though they say that forced love is not sweet, I still want to try and see if it is sweet or not. Don't you think so?"
Finnley was at a loss for how to respond to Lana's words and just smiled, "Okay, then you can try and see for yourself. You won't know if it's sweet until you taste it."
After speaking, Finnley glanced in the direction where Zane and the others had left. "Excuse me."
Lana nodded and said, "Okay, go ahead with your own business."
Finnley nodded and walked in the direction where Zane and the others had gone.
Lana stood in place and watched the gradually disappearing figures, squinting slightly. She then withdrew her gaze and turned to walk in the other direction.
She didn't come to this art exhibition just to support the Ellis family. She heard that a very good landscape painting was on sale today, and she wanted to come and take a look, and perhaps buy it as a gift for her grandfather.
When Finnley caught up with Zane and the others, Dominic also came over.
"Director Davies."
Dominic nodded at Finnley and said, "I'm here to find Miss Thompson."
"My parents want to see her?"
Dominic lowered his voice and said, "The Old Mr. Duncan wants Miss Ellis and Miss Thompson to apologize."
Finnley nodded, "They should apologize."
Dominic said, "Then I'll take Miss Thompson over."
Finnley said, "Go ahead and do that."
Dominic respectfully called out to Yanis, "Miss Thompson, Mr. Duncan wants you to come over."
Yanis turned to look at Dominic. "Mr. Duncan is looking for me?"
Dominic nodded, "Yes."
Yanis turned to Zane and said, "Will you wait for me here?"
Zane nodded, "Go ahead."
Yanis nodded in return and then turned to Anika and Iris. "Anika, I'll go find the Old Mr. Duncan first."
Anika replied, "Okay."
After saying their goodbyes, Yanis followed Dominic upstairs.
Just as Yanis left, Finnley looked at Zane and whispered, "Julia will apologize to Miss Thompson."
Zane glanced at Finnley but didn't say anything.
Anika said, "Zane, I'm just going to take a look around and then leave. I have an appointment with a friend later. " She wouldn't have come if not for accompanying Yanis.
And Anika was always nervous around Iris.
Zane looked at Anika and said, "Shall I take you there later?"
Anika shook her head and said, "No need, I'll take a taxi, and I'll let you know when I get there."
Zane nodded and said, "Okay, be careful."
Anika hummed and then turned to Iris. "Mr. Duncan, so excuse me."
Iris nodded. "OK, bye."
After Anika left, Iris's phone rang. He apologized to Zane and Finnley and left after checking the caller ID.
Zane and Finnley were left behind.
Finnley handed Zane a cigarette and said, "I didn't expect you to come in person."
Zane took it and replied, "Don't get the wrong idea. I just came with her."
Finnley lit the cigarette and handed it to Zane. He helped Zane light it and said, "I thought you didn't believe me and came to watch Julia apologize to Miss Thompson."
Zane took a puff and said, "You're overthinking it."
Finnley smiled and lit his own cigarette. "When I saw you earlier, that's what I thought," Finnley said.
Zane didn't respond.
The two of them stood smoking, ignoring the "no smoking" sign until a staff member came over and asked them to move to the designated smoking area.
Finnley asked Zane if there was any news on the West City project.
Zane flicked the ash and said, "Not yet."
"Is it only a couple of days? I've heard from people in the black market who want it, too."
Zane bit into his cigarette. "They can only dream of it."
Finnley thought about Zane's comments and nodded, "Yeah, they must have to go through a lot of procedures. They are unqualified now to join the competition!"
"If we really take the West City project, we will have to make up a lot of procedures, and then there will be a lot of networking."
Finnley leaned against one of the glass windows. "I can do the work myself, and make sure they will all be pleased."
Zane asked, "You're a good drinker?"
Finnley replied, "Saying that I won't get drunk after 1000 glassess of wine is an exaggeration, and it's not practical, but I haven't found anyone who can outdrink me yet. It's a lonely feeling."
Zane glanced at him but said nothing. They knew that if they wanted to win the West City project, they would need to drink a lot and show their sincerity.
Zane finished his cigarette in silence, then said, "I'll call you tomorrow night."
Finnley nodded. "Okay, then I'll wait for your call."
Zane hummed.
"By the way, don't take to heart what Lana just said. She is spoiled by her family."
Zane's expression was not obvious enough to tell what he was thinking, but he said without much emotion, "You know her well."
Finnley added, "She spends a lot of time with Julia, so I kind of know her, and Vincent and I see each other all the time."
Zane said, "Then tell her not to take any chances."
