Titus Quinn mocked Rhys and said, “She’s staring at you. Do you think she regretted turning you down when you confessed your love to her back then? Perhaps she wanted to be your girlfriend now.”

Rhys smacked the Land Rover next to him. “I didn’t tell her I came from a wealthy family when I confessed to her. I think this car of mine must’ve caught her attention now.”

“Isn’t that commonplace, though? Every lady loved a wealthy man. You were too naive when we were in high school. You used to think you could win a lady’s heart just by being pure.

“I don’t want to say this, but you should’ve given her a pigeon egg diamond ring, and you would've had her in your arms now.”

“I guess you’re right.” Rhys nodded in agreement.

“Come on. Let’s go over there.”

Rhys walked over to Bonnie and greeted her. “It’s been a long time, Bonnie.”

She still couldn’t recall who he was. “Who are you? Have we seen each other?”

He swapped glances with Titus.

‘No way in hell she forgot about us. She’s doing this on purpose and playing hard to get. Then again, she is a beautiful lady. It stands to reason that she’d want to play it off cool. I get it. I’ll play along, then.’

“Have you forgotten about us, Bonnie? We studied in the same high school. Your classroom was right next to mine. My name’s Rhys, and he’s my friend, Titus.”

“Rhys…” She mumbled. Then, it hit her.

‘It’s him. The guy from the next classroom confessed to me. I don’t remember a thing about Titus at all, though.’

“Are you guys also here for Master Orson’s art exhibition?” She asked.

“That’s right! My dad is a big fan of Master Orson’s paintings but couldn’t come today. So, he asked me to come here on his behalf and take some pictures instead.”

He thought she posed the question because she, too, wanted to get in. After all, it wasn’t like anybody could just waltz in. “I’ll bet you don’t have an invitation.”

Rhys kept rambling on while he took Bonnie inside.

“Have you been to somewhere this upscale before?”

“There are fruit and beverages over there. All of them are imported and expensive. It will cost you a lot to buy and eat these outside. Do you want some? I’ll get them for you.”

However, his friendliness rubbed her the wrong way.

“It’s okay. I’m not thirsty or hungry.”

“So am I. Let’s admire the paintings, then. Look at this piece. It’s so nicely done. I heard that it costs millions of dollars. That’s almost as much as my family makes.”

At the next moment, Titus gave him a big thumbs up.
