Chapter 151 Colleague

Below Harper's company building, Benjamin parked by the roadside and stared at the entrance, seemingly lost in thought.

At this moment, a familiar figure emerged from the building, her face lit up with a joyful smile. Even though he couldn't hear what she was saying to the man beside her, he could unmistakably sense her happiness.

Benjamin was stunned as he instinctively tightened his grip on the steering wheel. He then reached for his phone and dialed a number.

He watched as she took out her phone, her smile fading, and he heard her voice. "Hello?"

"Where are you?" Benjamin asked indifferently.

"Just got off work, about to grab dinner. Is there something wrong?" Her voice was calm, devoid of any emotion or disturbance.

This prompted Benjamin to sneer, "Can't I call you if there's nothing wrong?"

"Benjamin, that's not what I meant," she responded softly, her lips pressed, her expression serious.

Benjamin narrowed his eyes slightly and asked, "You're having dinner alone?"

"No."

"With whom?" he continued to inquire.

Her response came after a brief pause. "Colleague."

Benjamin sneered again, "Just colleague?"

"Just dinner? Then what else do you have in mind?" Benjamin's face resembled the calm before a storm.

Harper felt extremely helpless. She really didn't know how to make Benjamin understand. Her answer about having dinner with colleagues had been carefully considered. He would likely have been very displeased if she had mentioned Frank's name directly. But she hadn't expected him to be right there.

"When did he come over?" she thought.

Harper narrowed her eyes slightly. Frank, by her side, noticed her slightly stiff expression and followed her gaze to the black Mercedes parked not far away. He remained composed, his voice gentle. "Harper, have you finished your call? I've made a reservation at the restaurant. Shall I drive my car over?"

Harper murmured a low "Okay" then watched Frank walk towards the parking lot. Only then did she turn to Benjamin and say, "Benjamin, if my saying that Frank is my colleague makes you feel like I'm playing with words, then I admit I didn't want you to know that I was having dinner with him. Because of your lack of trust in me, I don't want a trivial matter to turn into an argument between us."

She was straightforward and honest, with no intention of avoiding or deceiving. Since she said it and did it, she stood by it. But she didn't think she was wrong.

Harper bit her lip, her tone cold. "So if we don't even have the most basic trust between us, how are we supposed to move forward?"
