"So how do you want me to do it? Should I not divorce you? So you can use this marriage to cover up your relationship with Lauren? Or maybe you want me to have a child for you and treat that child as if it were yours with Lauren?"

Harper was also somewhat out of control. She stared at him blankly, her eyes a bit crazy.

Benjamin suddenly laughed and asked, "Harper, you are brave enough to provoke me."

If it weren't for the strong hostility emanating from him, no one would know that he was angry just by looking at his expression.

Harper squinted her eyes and said, "I'm just telling the truth."

"Have you finished speaking?"

Harper didn't answer. She just stared at him blankly.

Then he added, "If you're done talking, could you please get out of my sight?"

His voice was low and hoarse, permeating with the cold silence of the night.

She knew what it meant to disappear from his sight, but she couldn't leave yet.

Harper looked at Benjamin and said, "When are you going to talk to Larry?"

"You want my help, right?" Benjamin repeated teasingly, looking down at her face. "Aren't you understanding? I'm not in the mood right now, so can you please understand me?"

"Benjamin, you don't keep your word!"

"Did I promise you that I would definitely talk to Larry?" He asked in return.

Harper took a deep breath and looked at his handsome face. He did not promise, so he did not break his promise.

She was just too anxious and placed all her hopes on him.

She nodded. "You're right. You never promised me anything. It was all my wishful thinking."

Harper just smiled and didn't show anything. She said, "Grandma, don't worry. I won't let myself get hurt. Just take care of yourself."

Eleanor nodded without asking further.

In the evening, after accompanying Eleanor for dinner, Harper returned to her apartment across the hall.

Perhaps because Annie had lived there for a few days, she had become accustomed to the lively atmosphere. At this moment, she felt uncomfortable in the quiet and empty house.

She sat blankly on the sofa, and after a few seconds, she finally picked up her phone and made a call.

As the call was about to hang up automatically, it was connected.

Larry's gentle voice sounded. "Harper?"

"It's me. Are you free to talk to me?" She asked softly.
