Chapter 279 Consider Herself
"Lily, what are you talking about? You don't have to apologize." Harper smiled, not taking this at all to heart, "It's okay, and it's just a small thing. You're not at fault."
"Do you really not blame me?"
"Of course!"
Harper took Lily's hand and whispered soothingly, "You don't have to take it seriously or worry about it."
"Harper, you're so sweet, just an understanding and thoughtful goddess in my heart."
It was Harper's turn to be shy and embarrassed by the compliment.
The other three men watched their interaction, a little confused as to why Lily was apologizing one second and then complimenting Harper the next.
They couldn't understand the women's conversation.
After chatting, Benjamin took Harper back to the apartment.
He put the equity transfer that Paul had given in his car and asked Harper as he drove, "Why won't you take what Grandpa gave you?"
"I just think it's a little too expensive."
"Really?"
"Of course. What else do you think I'm doing it for?"
Jennifer was a little emotional. She questioned, "Harper, are you pregnant?"
Harper didn't say anything.
Jennifer took that as her default.
She asked directly, "What do you mean by that? You were pregnant and hid it from us. If we hadn't found out from Lily, wouldn't we have known by now? Do you still care about me as your mom and the Mitchell family anymore?"
Jennifer was embarrassed when she thought of the image of Lily saying that Harper was pregnant then. The other women around her were also shocked at her lack of knowledge. They even thought she didn't care about Harper and was not pleasant to her.
She hadn't slept all night, but Harper hadn't made a single call to her until now. She couldn't believe Lily hadn't mentioned it to Harper.
But in the face of her questioning, Harper simply said, "I thought you weren't interested, so I didn't say anything. After all, it's not something important enough to make a point of telling you about."
