Chapter 302 Do Me a Favor

Harper had been silent since she entered the ward. After hearing Kimberly's question, she said to Benjamin calmly, "You go with Dr. Gene, and I'll see you in the parking lot."

"Okay." Benjamin nodded in agreement and left with Yinson.

Harper and Kimberly looked at each other and walked to the end of the corridor. They stood before the window. Harper took the initiative to ask, "What do you want to say?"

Kimberly pressed her lips, her eyes indifferent. "Are you blaming us?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," said Harper.

"Because Mom and Dad sent you to Grandma, you hate us, right?"

Harper glanced at her and said, "Is it important whether I hate you? You heard that Mom wanted to cut ties with me, which means it doesn't matter how I treat them, so why would you ask me?"

"Harper, Mom and Dad have their reasons, so..."

"Is this all you want to say? If so, save it. I'm not them, and I can't take their perspectives, and you're not me, so don't try to persuade me, okay?"

Harper interrupted Kimberly. The two looked at each other in silence.

Harper finally couldn't bear it and said, "I don't think we can hide Dad's coma from the Mitchell Group's employees and the media. We need someone to calm the company now. You are the legitimate heir to the Mitchell family and the Mitchell Group. Now, you should shoulder the responsibilities as an heir."

Kimberly argued, "Don't call me an heir. You said you can't choose your background and parents. Do you think I can?"

"Kimberly, did you get me wrong?"

Harper nodded. To reassure Eleanor, she said, "I see."

She always felt some ambivalence towards the Mitchell family. In the beginning, Harper wanted to fit in, but later, she gradually realized that it would be impossible for her to truly get their recognition and become their family. So, she let it go and no longer had any expectations.

When she returned to her apartment, Benjamin had finished a phone call and walked in from the balcony. He saw her looking gloomy.
