After lying down, they turned off the lights, but neither of them felt sleepy.

Harper asked proactively, "You've been here in Mayby for quite a while now. When are you going back?"

"Harper, you heartless person. Don't tell me you're trying to chase me away?"

Harper stopped teasing and asked seriously, "Has the Jones family been urging you to go back?"

"Why would they urge me? I'm just an insignificant person. Whether I'm there or not doesn't affect the Jones family's interests in any way. I think some people wish I'd never return in their lifetime!"

Annie chuckled lightly, her words tinged with self-mockery. Though she had no blood ties with the Jones family, Harper knew she cared a lot about their attitude toward her.

Harper asked, "Has Anderson not contacted you?"

"He has. We chatted a couple of days ago. He's preparing to get engaged."

"Engaged?"

"Yes, engaged. They're planning a formal engagement ceremony, and then it's marriage next."

"Well, then, congratulations to him."

Harper said casually.

Annie echoed, "Yes, congratulations to him."

Then suddenly, both fell silent because they understood why each other said it.

They had dreamless sleep. The next morning, Harper was awakened by the phone ringing.

It was a call from the Martin Manor.

Seeing the caller ID, Harper was a bit slow to react, but as soon as she did, she immediately answered, "Hello!"
