“Hmm?” Fu Chengyan tilted his brows slightly as he focused on the document clutched in Shi Nuan’s hands.

He snatched it away from her, and noticed that it was a proposal. Glancing at her, he asked, “What’s this?”

“Ah, I…” Shi Nuan was just thinking of how to comfort Fu Chengyan. She did not expect to be caught red-handed so soon. Circling her arms around his neck, she chuckled. “Haha… It’s just that I’ve not seen my colleagues over at the Project Management Department for quite some time. So I went inside for a walk… Umm…”

“And then you took over a big project?” Fu Chengyan waved the proposal in his hand casually as his gaze was affixed on her.

Shi Nuan pursed her lips. Her brows were knitted from guilt. “Are you mad?”

“Do you care if I’m mad or not?” Fu Chengyan retorted. Exasperated, she replied, “Of course I do!”

“What happened when I asked you to wait for me in the office?”

“Yan, I’m sorry.” Shi Nuan stuck out her tongue impishly again. She realized that he might have been really mad this time. Shi Nuan brushed her forehead against his. “I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to break the promise. I got too bored waiting for you. Besides, I’m perfectly fine. I can’t just stay right here and do nothing all day. So, I went to find Yuan Jia and got something from her to pass time. I promise you, I won’t stir up any trouble, okay?”

Shi Nuan swung his arms as she apologized. “I’m a really meticulous person. Is it really necessary to worry about me? I…”

“Hmph!” This woman has said a bunch when I haven’t even said a single word. ”Alright!”

“I’m not making you worried. You’re the one who’s worrying too much.” Shi Nuan placed her fingers on his temples and massaged them. “Does this feel good?”

Fu Chengyan closed his eyes and relaxed.

Shi Nuan got up carefully from his lap. All of a sudden, Fu Chengyan tightened his grip on her and she fell back on his lap. “Where are you going?”

Shi Nuan was amused. “I’m not going anywhere. I just want to get up to massage you. I’m afraid that I’m too heavy.”

“You’re not heavy at all. You’re literally skin and bones. Why don’t you take this chance to gain more weight?” Fu Chengyan said as he eyeballed Shi Nuan. Knitting his brows, he complained, “Too thin!”

“I’m pretty much standard, not at all too thin. Don’t even dream of feeding me till I’m a fatty!” Shi Nuan puffed out her cheeks and increased her force on his temples. “Understand?”

“You’re not fat at all. I think you’re way too thin. You’re going to go through a lot when you give birth. So you’ve got to eat more and take good care of yourself. even if you do get fat, you’re my one and only fatty!”

“You’re the fatty!” Shi Nuan pinched his nose. “Don’t call me fat!”

“Oh my goodness, I did not! I’ve been saying that you’re too thin!” Fu Chengyan could not resist when she pinched his nose. He circled his hands around her waist. “What do you think after looking through the proposal?”

“I thought you didn’t want to let me handle it!” Shi Nuan was pleasantly surprised.

Even though she promised Yuan Jia that she would handle this, she did not actually have the confidence that Fu Chengyan would let her take part in this. That was why she bit her tongue about it just now. However, she grinned from ear to ear after hearing him. “Yan, are you saying that I could start working on this?”

“How long could I keep protesting? You’re behaving like I’m bullying you!” Fu Chengyan was left with no choice. “I have to make myself clear though. You could provide your opinion and participate in some lightweight tasks. But you’re definitely not going outstation and absolutely forbidden from interfering too much. Okay?”

“Okay! I know what to do. I know my limits, okay?” Since Fu Chengyan had given his word, she had to stick to the end of her deal too. “Don’t worry, I’m only in charge of the early preparation. Yuan Jia has mentioned that Mr. Lin is outstation now. Even though he has arranged extra helping hands, it seems like their collaboration isn’t going well. So, the extra helping hands are of not much help either. That’s why I’m offering myself up for the job.”

Fu Chengyan nodded his head and glanced at the proposal. “Aureate Jade? Huh, what a good choice!”

Shi Nuan’s eyes lit up. “Why? Is this the project of the year?”

Fu Chengyan nodded. “Yes, We’re getting started on this. Lin Yu is going outstation to deal with this too!” Fu Chengyan laid out the proposal on the desk and pointed at it. “This is only the preliminary planning. Have you gone through it?”

Shi Nuan shook her head. “I picked one out randomly. I honestly had no idea which one I actually picked out!” Shi Nuan sat on his lap again and looked at it seriously. “When is this project going to be launched?”

“We don’t have a fixed date yet. Our partners haven’t decided either.”

“This is not Jiang City’s project, right?” Even though Shi Nuan did not handle the bid of a few projects at Jiang City, she had heard of them, and Aureate Jade was not of them. Hence, she guessed that it was not a local project. “So is Lin Yu handling the survey?”

“Yes, smart woman.” Fu Chengyan flipped open the Aureate Jade project proposal. “It’s at Sheen City.”

Fu Chengyan pointed at his desk and Zhou Zheng put the pile on his desk right away. Before leaving, he suddenly recalled something. “Mr. Fu, Shen Shixiu’s flight is at three in the afternoon tomorrow.”

Three in the afternoon!

Fu Chengyan narrowed his eyes. “Is he alone?”

“No, Ms. Shen will be taking the same flight.”

Fu Chengyan knitted his brows at Zhou Zheng’s report. Then, he waved his hands to dismiss Zhou Zheng.

As Fu Chengyan stared at Shi Nuan who was sleeping peacefully, he slipped into deep thought.

Not long after, Shi Nuan’s phone rang. Her forehead creased and she was about to open her eyes. Fu Chengyan reached out to cover her eyes. With her vision going pitch black, she fell into slumber.

Fu Chengyan then took the phone beside Shi Nuan. After seeing the WeChat message popping up, his gaze darkened.

It was a text from Shen Shixiu. “Sorry, I was busy and did not see your text. I’ll treat you guys tomorrow!”

Fu Chengyan raised a brow. He scrolled up to see the previous messages between Shen Shixiu and Shi Nuan.

So, this fella has added Shi Nuan a while back but she does not know about it?

Fu Chengyan looked at the text and slightly pursed his lips. He replied okay and kept the phone.

Shi Nuan did not seem to be comfortable in her sleep. She turned around and almost fell to the floor. Fu Chengyan hurriedly reached out and caught hold of her. He looked helpless as Shi Nuan positioned herself in his embrace and fell into deep sleep.

Fu Chengyan brushed back the stray hairs around the corners of her mouth. He was greeted by her angelic sleeping face. He brushed his fingers against her cheeks and carried her into the lounge.

He placed her gently on the bed. Just when he covered her with a blanket, Shi Nuan clutched onto his hands as she opened her eyes in a daze. His handsome face looked stern in the dimly lit lounge.

She pouted as she hugged Fu Chengyan’s arms and brushed herself against him. “Yan, let’s sleep together.”
