Shen Shixiu then brought Shen Qianan back to her room. After making sure Yu was asleep, he then stared at Shen Qianan.

Shen Shixiu sat in silence, but the tense atmosphere he created suffocated Shen Qianan. Although she was anxious, she dared not say a word before Shen Shixiu did.

“Father, are you still defending her?” A bitter look crept into Shen Shixiu’s narrow eyes. “My mother…”

“That’s enough. I’ll explain to you later. I want to meet with her first. After this matter is settled, you may go back.”

Without giving Shen Shixiu a chance to continue speaking, Shen Feng went upstairs.

By now, Shu Qing had been in the room for several hours. Although Shen Shixiu did nothing, the several hours she spent there felt like years for Shu Qing. Hearing his words, the light in Shu Qing’s eyes dimmed. “It’s been a long time since I’ve heard you call me that.” She then smiled at him. “Come, have a seat.”

Shen Feng nodded. Noticing her pale pallor, he asked, “Are you feeling unwell?”

Shu Qing shook her head. “Since you’ve asked your son to take me here, is there anything you need?”

“There is indeed something.” Shen Feng gazed at Shu Qing for a moment before continuing, “I heard from Shixiu that you and he have come back. That’s why I’m here to visit you, as well as to put an end to what happened back then.”

Upon hearing his words, a shudder ran through her body. She jumped to her feet and cried out, “Shen Feng.”
