Eid went just like that and all the males started going to office while the girls started their jobs in hospital as the Eid holidays were over for them. Only hana was free as her summer vacation were going on. Hana decided one afternoon that she will ask her parents about their three day tour to some other place. They had gone on a three day tour every year on new places. It was kind of a road trip.

Hana went to her parents’ room where her mother was resting after lunch. She knocked on the door and went in after getting permission to enter.

“Mamma!” Hana exclaimed childishly with wide open arms and ran to her mother’s bed and jumped on it.

“Kiya baat h! Aj tou bohot achay mood main lag rahi ho! Fursat mil gayi apnay laptop say? (Wow! Are not you looking in a really good mood today! Finally got free from your laptop?!)” Hiba asked teasingly with a smile while hugging hana very tightly. Both were laying on the bed and hugging each other.

“main to har wakt hi achay mood main hoti hn! Is main kon si nayi baat hai! (I am always in a good mood! What is so new in that?!)” Hana cheekily exclaimed.

“Zyada baatain nhi banao! Ab batao kiya kaam tha? Esay tou nhi ati tm meray pas! (no need to be so cheeky! Now tell me what is it that you want?! It’s not like you come to me without any reason!)” Hiba asked getting straight to the point.

“Mamma! Is baar hm kab jayain gay road trip pr? (Mamma! When are we going to our road trip this time?)” Hana asked while gazing up at her mother from her hug.

“Is baar to nhi lagta k ja saktay hain hum! Zayn or Zamid abhi aye hain itnay saalo k baad tou un k sath time spend krna chahiye humain! Hena? (I don’t think we can go this time! Zayn and Zamid just came after so many years so should not we spend some time with them? No?!)” hiba said while stroking hana’s hair lovingly.

“Oh acha! (Oh okay!)” Hana sadly exclaimed.

“Koi baat nhi na! Next vacation main chalay jain gay! Udaas na ho abhi! (No worries there! We’ll go in the next vacations! Don’t be sad now!)” Hiba said to her daughter and hana just nodded and went back to hugging her mother and snuggling her face in her mother’s chest.

Both, the mother and daughter duo rested together till Asar and then they got up to pray Namaz.

The days were spent like this. Hana was always in her room doing something on laptop. She mostly skipped food and this cut off her most of the time with family. She was busy even on Sundays. The family dismissed this as thinking that she was simply sleeping or watching her cartoons on Laptop.

It was almost the end of her vacations. Only 9 days were left of her summer holidays. Hana came down from her room at around 11am to eat something as she skipped breakfast. When hana reached the kitchen, she was many people in the kitchen preparing food. There were lots of delicious dishes.

Hana put some toasts and a whole jar of jam in a tray and made her way to the table.

“Yeh kiya ho raha h Baji? Itnay khanay! Khairiyat h na! Kahi meri shadi ki tyari tou nahi ho rahi? (what is going on, sister? So many dishes! Everything alright?! Are you guys preparing for my wedding by any chance?)” Hana jokingly asked one of the old cooks. The cook chuckled at hana’s Marriage joke.

“No hana beta! Ap k bhai k rishtay k liye kuch log aa rahay hain! (No hana dear! Your bother’s future in-laws are here!)” The cook replied after calming her laughter down. Hana was shocked as she did not know about her brother’s marriage.

“Zamid bhai k liye? (For brother Zamid?)” Hana asked in a shocked voice.

“jee! (Yes!)” the cook replied and went back to her work in kitchen.

Hana started eating her toasts and jam. She was thinking about her brother’s marriage. First, she was sad that she was not informed about it then she was angry with her parents then she became excited about a new addition to the family and finally she became scared that her soon-to-be-sister-in-law will also hate her and will be scary like her brother.

After finishing her food, hana put her plates in the kitchen and went to find her mother. She looked around some places in the villa but she did not find her. So, she came back down and heard voices coming from her Dado’s room. The door was also open. Hana decided to go there.

“Mjhay to larki bohot pasand h Ammi jaan! Ab bas aj shadi ki dates final kr letay hain! (I like the girl a lot mother! Now let’s just fix the dates for the wedding!)” Hiba was saying to her mother-in-law. Hana was able to hear them.

“Tmhay pata hai na k yeh rishta Rayaan k liye tha pr mjhay to is baat ki khushi h k unho nay Zamid say shadi krnay ka faisla kr liya, Rayaan k reject krnay k baad bhi. Mjhay to ye nhi samajh aa rahi k Rayaan nay itna acha rishta reject kyun kiya! Family bhi bohot achi h or larki bhi! Hum kitnay arsay say jantay hain in logo ko! (You do know na that this proposal was for Rayaan, but I’m happy that they decided to marry zamid even though rayaan rejected it. I don’t understand why Rayaan rejected this great marriage proposal. Their family and daughter both are very good people. We have known them since forever!)” Dadi jaan said. This made hana to stop in her track. She did not know why but her heart just skipped a beat. She felt as if there was a stab in her heart. She felt like crying but she stopped herself and made her way to her Dado’s room.

“Chalain koi baat nhi Ammi! Jo Allah ki marzi ab! (Ok, let it be mother, whatever Allah wishes!)” Hiba said and they fell in silence. Hana stood at the door and knocked on it to get her mother’s and her dado’s attention.

“Mamma! Dado! Assalamualaikum!” Hana greeted and both of them replied to hana’s greeting.

“Mill gayi ap ko fursat! Har wakt laptop k agay! Koi haal h sahi! Na deen ki khabar na duniya ki! (Finally you are free to grace us with your presence! All the time you are using your laptop! What are we gonna do with you! No knowledge of the surroundings!)” Dadi jaan scolded hana with a scowl on her face. Hana just stood there with her head down towards the floor.

“Sorry Dado!” Hana apologized.

“Ammi main ati hn bas! Hana ko kapray de ao zara!(Mother, I’ll be back after giving Hana her clothes)” Hiba said to her mother-in-law. At this, Dadi jaan nodded and hiba took hana’s hand and dragged her out.

“Hana bachay main ap k kapray nikal deti hoon. Un ko pehno or ready ho jao! Koi fazool baat nhi krni! Ap k bhai ki shadi ki date fix krnay aa rahay hain! (Hana, I’m taking your clothes out. Wear them and go get ready! No questions! Your brother’s marriage date is going to get fixed)” Hiba said to her daughter and dragged her to her room.

“Mamma, mjhay kisi nay kyun nhi bataya! (Why no one told me about it?) Why was I not informed about Zamid bhai’s marriage? I just found out from one of the cooks.” Hana pouted and complained.

“What are you saying girl? I showed you the picture of the girl two weeks ago! And you even said okay! How can you say that you did not know!” Hiba exclaimed with serious voice. Hana tried to remember it and she did remember something like that. She was busy on that day and she did not listen to her mother carefully. Now hana was feeling embarrassed and sheepish.
