"Someone will be coming to save us soon," Julian said. Now that it was just them and no Betty, things were easier to handle.

He instructed Sean, "Gather those syringes, and give them to the police when they come."

The more Sean thought about it, the more he felt that he had been immature. Everyone said he was an intelligent kid; but at that moment, he didn't think he was as intelligent as they claimed.

No father would come in unprepared when dealing with a child in dangerous situations, especially a father like Julian. He was used to arranging and commanding everything.

"I'll take revenge for you," Julian said. He glanced at the wounds inflicted on Sean, not bearing to look a second time. "I'll make Enzo Jennings pay a price far worse than physical pain."

Sean didn't care about that. He was more concerned about Julian. "Are you sure you'll be alright?"

Instead of answering Sean, Julian asked him a question."

Who do you think is stronger? Daddy or Enzo?"

Sean didn't even need to consider. He immediately gave his answer. "Daddy is stronger."

'That settles it, then." Julian was still in the mood for jokes, even at a time like this. "Catching bad guys always comes at a cost."
