Everywhere was filled with white mist. There were obscure flashes of shadowy figures that filtered through the mist, along with the brief lull of various sounds.
There were sounds of children crying, of metal blades clashing against each other, and of warriors shouting in their loud voices as they let out their battle cries accompanied by loud explosions that filled one with dread.
These sounds interfered with and meshed together, like a piece of horrendous background music that told epic tales of war and savagery.
Everything was dreamlike, and nothing could be perceived clearly. But above the din of hazy mist and blood-curdling sounds, there was one above all else that could be made out with total clarity.
It was the sound of insane laughter that sent chills down the spines of those who heard it.
Following it were indistinct mutterings, like the whispers of the devil. Anyone who heard it would be driven mad and be dulled of their senses and would leave themselves open to the silent arms of death.
The laughter came again, and this time its mutterings were clear for all to hear. Its words echoed across the entire space, saying words filled with wild arrogance.
"Hahaha, do you all see this? Do you see what you have been reduced to?"
"For many millennia, you have all been filled with arrogance and disdain towards my kind. You have all held your noses up at us as you killed and persecuted us. But who is the one laughing now? Who are the ones who are in their final struggle, are about to face destruction?"
"Now, with my master by my side, I shall put an end to the prosperity of your entire race. After this, I shall go to the others of your people, and I shall do to them the same that I did to you all."
"You were the most powerful of them all. With your destruction, the rest shall follow and I will be hailed as the one who ended an era, the one who severed the lives and futures of an entire race!!"
"I shall decorate my throne with your bones and fill my bath with your blood. Hahaha!!!"
The voice said all this and with every word that was uttered; it filled the space with its power and spread its evil intent to all.
Suddenly, out of the hazy mist came a dazzling divine light that filled the entire space with its warm glow, and from the center of this light came an old and wizened voice. It was a voice that was filled with the vicissitudes of life and the traces of time could be felt from it. From the light came a deep sigh.
"Sigh!"
"Dark Shade lord, why do you lead yourself down the path of no return?"
"Finally, you old thing has finally shown up," The Dark Shade lord said.
"When I have gotten rid of you, the destiny of the Aeth will come to an end and the Shades shall rule supreme in this realm."
The old man in the light was unflustered and continued, "Are you so sure that your plan will succeed in the end?"
"Old bastard, you would doom your entire race just to deal with me?"
The old man calmly replied, "This is just a temporary measure. With the power your master has granted you, you will not be able to remain sealed forever. But it is enough. By the time you come out of your seal, the preparations I have put in place will be ready."
"In order to deal with you and your master, I have put a lot of plans in motion and when everything is finished, the Aeth will rise up as one of the strongest races in the whole universe wielding a power no one has been able to grasp after all its time in existence."
At the end of the speech, the light that had covered everywhere started to recede.
The dark shade lord desperately struggled and shouted with all his might. "old bastard, you will not succeed. My master will not let you off!"
As the light faded away, it carried with it all the sounds of war and battle as well as the struggles of the Dark Shade lord.
As the cause of all this, the old man watched in contemplative silence as he was in deep thought.
At the point when the light was about to reach release its final glow, he said with deep sorrow in his voice.
"Unfortunately, this is all I can do for you all. The rest is up to you. My children." The old man whispered to himself and saying so, the light vanished and with it every trace of the people who had inhabited this place.
