Gabriella was awake in the swaddle. She had flawless skin, bright eyes, and tiny dimples. She looked just like Julian.

Every father had a soft spot for their daughters, especially since Gabriella kept staring at Julian with her twinkling eyes. She could see clearly now and seemed to be curious about him.

He stared back at her as his heart melted. He carefully took Gabriella from Willow’s arms, feeling like something was lodged in his throat as he held her close.

She was so soft and light. Julian couldn’t help but lower his head and press it to Gabriella’s cheek. She smelled sweet and had that unique scent that only babies had. It was a smell that filled him with joy.

Tears filled his eyes, which was unlike him. This was what blissfulness felt like.

Esther quietly wiped her tears. She was just a regular employee, but she’d formed a bond with Julian after working with him for so long. She hoped beyond hope that this moment of bliss would last forever.

She said softly, “It’s chilly in the morning. Let’s bring the baby upstairs.”

Julian kissed Gabriella softly and looked at Willow. “Let’s go upstairs. I’ve prepared a nursery for Gabriella.”

Willow wanted to say it wasn’t necessary because they would only be there for three days. Ultimately, she decided against it.

On the second floor, the southernmost bedroom had been converted into a pink nursery. It was a soft shade that softened one’s

Julian’s eyes twinkled. “I’ll do it.”

He wanted to care for Gabriella as best as he could for the next three days–he wanted to fulfill his responsibility as a father. He also wanted to spend as much time as possible with her. Who knew whether he’d still have the chance to be with her in the future?

Instead of objecting, Willow asked, “Do you know how to do it?”

He rasped, “I went to classes.”

As it turned out, men could also be excellent stay–at–home dads. Julian had always been smarter than everyone around him, and he looked like he knew what he was doing as he cleaned Gabriella with warm water. She didn’t fuss or cry. On the contrary, she kept giggling.
