Julian gave a bitter smile. “I let her down back then, and she’s been ill ever since. That’s why I’ve been taking care of her. There’s nothing more to it.”

Such an excuse didn’t sit well with Dominic. He tossed the chess piece to the ground.

“Nothing more to it? Then why are you treating her like a queen? She was born with the illness, but your wife’s condition is because of you.

“Open your eyes!”

Julian lowered his head. “Grandpa, I understand.”

The next day, Willow received a gift–a dog tag.

The silver tag was engraved with the letters “JW“, representing Julian and Willow.

Willow thought, “Julian wasn’t the type to do such a thing.”

Over the next week, she would receive a daily gift from him. None of them were particularly expensive, but they were thoughtful.

There was even a delicate diamond necklace that she liked.

However, she didn’t use any of the items and just tossed them into a box.

She ignored Julian and gave him the cold shoulder, but that didn’t dampen his enthusiasm.

Two weeks later, he called her multiple times. Willow couldn’t bear it anymore and finally picked up.

“What do you want?”

On the other end, Julian said gently, “The New Year’s gala tomorrow night in Brindley. Are you going?”

Willow was definitely going.

Heather was going to introduce her to two people she had always wanted to meet, but she didn’t want to tell Julian that.

She replied indifferently, “Whether I go or not is none of your business.”

Julian instantly knew that she would be going and was satisfied.

After hanging up, Julian felt that pursuing Willow was quite a nice feeling. Even the housekeepers said he seemed to be walking on air.

He thought, aside from guilt and responsibility, he did have some feelings for Willow.

The next day, the New Year’s Gala was held in Brindley. Prominent figures from all around dressed up and attended the event.

That evening, Willow met the heavyweights of the art world. She had them endorse the painters she had signed.

With their celebrity backing, the newcomers‘ value would skyrocket. Of course, Willow would pay them seven–figure commissions.

She held a champagne glass and socialized with people. In half an hour, she had already concluded her discussions.

Julian stood a few yards away, watching his wife interact with others. He was the one who taught Willow such social skills.
