Chandler went pale in the face, realizing that the spiritual energy in his body was actually draining out of him and entering the dagger.

He was unable to absorb the energy within the dagger. Instead, he was going to be drained of his own spiritual energy!

"What's happening, Mister Seamus?" Chandler asked, terrified.

Seamus stood with his hands behind his back. "This is the Flying Dagger, a treasure my ancestors left behind for me. Only a Rocher can absorb its energy."

"W-Why did you do this to me?"

Chandler knew that something was incredibly wrong then. The dagger seemed to be sucking away at his spiritual energy, strength, and even his life force by the second. He would be a corpse in a matter of minutes if this went on.

Seamus sighed. "My apologies. The Rochers cannot meet their demise because of me. I have to use your powers to activate the energy in the dagger, and then try to control it."

"How could you, Seamus Rocher!" Chandler roared. "I was willing to die for your family, and swore on my life to be loyal to you, yet you plotted to kill me?"

Chandler understood then that Seamus had no plans to make him a Super Sanctuary level cultivator in the first place.

Instead, Seamus was planning to use Chandler's powers to activate the dagger and absorb its energy to become an elite himself.

Chandler had underestimated how cunning Seamus could be.

Seamus let out a sigh as he looked up. "I didn't want to do this either, Elder Fornst. This is a matter of life and death for my family, and I had to go about it this way. Please don't fault me, and may you rest in peace."

"Seamus Rocher, you bastard!"

Chandler was physically beginning to dry up from having his literal life sucked out of him.

He found that he could not let go of the dagger, either.

The dagger was clinging on to him instead of the other way around, slowly draining him of everything.

If his father were to really become an elite and defeat Wilbur, the Rochers would be untouchable.

Sawyer looked at his father hungrily, hoping that Seamus would give the chance to him. Sawyer would have the world wrapped around his finger, becoming the elite of elites.

The thought made his expression turn crazed.

Just then, the glow coming off the dagger was all the more dazzling as Chandler slowly dried up.

He collapsed to the ground within a few minutes, completely drained.

Before he fell, he used the last of his strength to say, "You won't get away with doing this, Seamus Rocher. I might be dead, but I'm cursing your entire family to suffer a terrible fate."

"Rest in peace. I'll remember what you did for us, but I wouldn't worry about the Rochers if I were you. We would have died a long time ago if karma was real," said Seamus.
