The bear, on its last breath, turned to the mountain and let out a final cry of agony before drawing its last breath.

Wilbur's gaze followed where the bear had last looked towards.

It took a while for Pembroke and the others to snap out of their stupor. The black bear was dead, and they were safe for the time being.

Pembroke and Mikael came up to Wilbur, staring at the dead bear shakily.

Wilbur turned to look at the dozen or so special forces officers dead on the ground. "I'm sorry. I didn't sense its presence myself."

"That's hardly your fault," Pembroke scrambled to say. "Thank goodness you got here in time, Deacon Penn. Who knows how many more deaths there would have been otherwise."

"Yes, thank you Mister… I mean, Deacon Penn," Mikael said as well.

Wilbur's timely appearance had pretty much saved the lives of over a hundred people.

None of them would have been able to survive the bear's terrifying power.

Mikael glowered at Esha, shouting, "Aren't you going to apologize to Deacon Penn, Esha?"

Esha trembled all over, walking over shakily to stand next to Mikael.

"Go on. Apologize."

Mikael was furious. Wilbur would not have left if Esha had not stepped on his toes and could have prevented all these deaths.

If this was to be investigated, Esha would be the one at fault.

Pembroke was enraged as well. All these casualties were people from his team, and he was not looking forward to having to explain this to the higher-ups and the families of the deceased.

Esha lowered her head, not daring to look Wilbur in the eye at all. "I'm sorry, Deacon Penn."

Pembroke and Mikael said nothing, knowing that those words were a clear warning to them.

They felt, however, that the issue could have been solved by exercising Wilbur's special power and all these deaths could have been avoided.

Esha held her head even higher at those words.

Wilbur turned back to the mountains then. "There's something strange in the mountains. I'm going to have a look. You can all leave after you're done cleaning up the scene."

Pembroke and Mikael nodded.

Yet Esha said, "I'm going too."

Pembroke and Mikael were stunned.
