"Otherwise, I won't agree to your trade even if you kill me!" the lady threatened.

Wilbur tossed both USD drives at the lady at once. "I've never been one to take the beloved of another, nor am I a thief! You've gotten your stuff back now, but don't even think of trying anything funny with me or I'll make sure you regret it. Of course, I won't hurt you or anyone related to you as long as you behave."

Wilbur fished out a license from the bald man's pockets, tossing it on the ground before glancing at his watch. "Let's head home now. It's getting late, and I haven't had dinner yet!"

The lady sensed the sincerity in his gaze, then picked up the backpack she had flung off in a panic earlier. "Come with me, then."

She turned to leave the parking lot, flagging down a cab and heading to a street full of old buildings.

It was evening then, and there were not too many people on the streets. However, those who were out seemed to all know the girl, greeting her as she walked past.

Some of the neighbors gave Wilbur a peculiar glance when they spotted him next to the girl, looking like they were on the verge of asking them if they were together.

Wilbur followed the girl all the way to an old building under everyone's watchful gaze.

She turned before they entered. "If anyone asks who you are, just say you're a colleague of mine. I don't want there to be any misunderstandings."

The old woman flashed a smile, not giving the girl any chance to explain before leaving.

The girl sighed. "I knew this would happen! Come on, let's go. These neighbors all know my parents really well, they practically watched me grow up. They've been waiting for me to settle down and start a family ever since I graduated from university!"

She glanced wistfully at the old lady's retreating figure.

"I can see that. I will say, though, that I'm rather surprised at how close-knit this neighborhood is. Considering how things are in Cametra, you know," said Wilbur as he followed the girl all the way up before stopping abruptly at the fourth floor.
