There were already a few ant-men waiting there. Through the connection in their feelers, the ant general was able to know what was going on in the fog. The two guards by his side were about to enter the fog, but the ant general put up a hand as if ordering them to back up.

Wilbur stuck the spear into the ground, thinking about his battle just now against the ant general. The ant general was indeed powerful, but still far from the ant-man Wilbur had encountered in the Greensource Corp basement.

Could that ant-man in the basement have been an evolved version of his species, or that there had yet to be a powerful ant-man to emerge from the camp so they could only send regular ant soldiers into the battle?

Wilbur felt that the latter was more likely to be the case. Just then, however, a barrage of arrows rained down from atop. The ant-men outside the fog must have sensed the lack of their companions' presence in the fog and were thus attacking once more.
