Wilbur's chest heaved as he said, "There's a huge formation here that only cultivators can see. It's only a threat to us."

Arsi had heard of cultivators before, but he had never really encountered one and thus did not really understand what the cultivator's circle was like. Wilbur's appearance was how Arsi even got to know about formations at all.

"But shouldn't formations affect everyone?" Arsi asked. "I've read many stories about cultivators before, and they're supposed to restrict a certain area from everyone regardless of whether they're a cultivator or not."

"No. That isn't the case this time."

Wilbur shook his head. "This isn't any ordinary formation. I don't think you'll understand. Just let me observe it and think of a solution."

Senior Fremont had laid down the two formations here, and he was a cultivator from an upper dimension. It would be hard for Wilbur to explain this to Arsi, and he turned to walk around the formation while observing it.

Both formations, upon sensing no other threats, returned back to normal eventually. After walking a full circle around the square, Wilbur finally realized that both the formations were actually interconnected like a web.

Touching one formation would activate the other one, and the wave of pressure that had struck Wilbur was like a blow from a highly skilled cultivator.

Touching both the formations at the same time would severely injure him for sure.

Wilbur finally understood then that both the formations were far more powerful than he had thought, and they were not to be approached so easily. That was the test Senior Fremont had given him.

"Mister Fawkes? The Scorpion Killers came back to us with a response. They said they'd be willing to take on the job, but they're asking for one hundred million dollars."

"One hundred million?"

Fawkes was furious. "This cocky bastard is costing me a hundred million dollars to get rid of him, huh? What a joke."

His butler said, "Mister Fawkes, the head of the Scorpion Killers, Huck, said that they just want the money. They don't want any of the items Wilbur Penn got from the auction, and they're willing to drive the van he was in back to you after they kill him. Everything in the van will be yours."
