Wilbur, being out of ideas, was drawn to the mirage at once. Upon taking a closer look, the page said that mirages were common occurrences in Wendis. In fact, there were records of it appearing eighty-nine times in a single year.

Practically anyone living in Wendis would have seen a mirage before. It was not really a big deal as mirages were usually formed by a reflection of sun rays.

Wilbur flipped to a page recollecting a rather special mirage. It was said that thirty years ago, there had been a mirage on the waters along Wendis reflecting the town itself.

However, no one knew why the mirage had even appeared.

There were two sketches on the page. One was of the map of the town, and the other was of the suspended mirage of Wendis. Wilbur's gaze landed on the mirage of Wendis and was immediately stunned by what he saw. All the roads in the mirage of Wendis seen in the sketch were facing the ocean.

"I found it!" Wilbur cried out excitedly, causing the people around him to whip around and stare at him. The librarians hurried over to ask him what happened, then smiled and nodded upon finding out that he was just overjoyed.

Wilbur took out his phone and snapped a few photos of the mirage of Wendis. He then left the library and headed to a nearby dock.

Under the blue sky, the sun's golden rays beat down on the water. Wilbur placed his hands on his hips and began to observe the sea. Just then, a series of screams could be heard.

"Help! Help!"

Wilbur turned to see a young girl bobbing up and down in the water from afar as she screamed for help. Wilbur dove into the water at once, swimming toward the girl at top speed. Yet by the time he had reached her, the girl had already sunk below the surface.

Wilbur went underwater at once, pulling the girl out of the water before bringing her back to shore.

The girl pried the clam open to reveal a big and shiny pearl inside. She took it out and handed it to Wilbur. "That's why I went into the water. Well, it's yours now."

"No, I can't take something you acquired by risking your life."

Wilbur scrambled to turn the girl down, who had no choice but to put the pearl away. "Alright, I owe you a favor then. I don't know your name yet, though."

"My name's Wilbur. What about yours?"

"I'm Judith. Thank you for saving me, I'm really grateful."
