Wilbur turned around to look. Sure enough, a round white light around the size of a human face appeared in the east. It was shrinking rapidly as if compressed by the pressure of the chaos realm, having decreased significantly in size in just a few seconds.
Augheimer said, "Crap! Let's get out of here quickly. We might not make it out if we wait."
"Okay. Let's go!"
The two men charged towards the white light as it continued to shrink, rushing out of it just as it was only the width of a soup bowl.
White light flashed before their eyes, and they were back in the Buck Town dimension. The circle of white light was now the size of a date.
Wilbur and Augheimer glanced at each other, heaving a sigh of relief. All of a sudden, a tentacle reached out of the circle of light. It pressed itself against Augheimer's chest, and a dozen more tentacles sprouted out. They wrapped around Augheimer's body before dragging him back toward the white light.
"No, no!" Augheimer shrieked in terror. At the last second, Wilbur raised his Magic Dragon Blade and cut the tentacles off him.
The broken tentacles withdrew back into the chaos dimension, and the circle of light closed off for good. The chopped-off pieces of tentacles disappeared into a cloud of gray smoke as well.
"Gray smoke…" Wilbur frowned, knowing the answer behind that at once.
Augheimer's chest heaved as he panted and said, "Thanks for that. I think I'd be back in the chaos dimension by now if it wasn't for your help."
"Did you see that, Augheimer?" asked Wilbur.
"You could say that, but I don't think it's that simple. At the very least, we know that our bodies are different from those of many others. I think that's why you were able to devour a hundred thousand cultivators' power in the span of three months."
"I see. It does seem like you're right."
Augheimer let out a chuckle. "At least we won't be stepped on by some useless weaklings anymore. We can just be ourselves now."
Wilbur took a deep breath. "Stop this, Augheimer. You've killed far too many people in Buck Town, it's going to get you into a lot of trouble if you keep this up."
"Alright. I suppose I need to thank you and also owe you an apology. The past three months of improvement turned me into a monster. I lost the ability to tell good from evil. You saved my life, but I nearly got you killed."
