"I know these people. They might not be after me now, but I can swear to you that someone's going to try to kill me the second I step out of Seechertown," Gertridge said.

Wilbur smirked. "That's your problem. Just don't cause me any trouble or you'll get it."

"Of course! I'm a law-abiding citizen now. I even have a job," Gertridge said.

Wilbur stared at her. A top-grade assassin was having to look for a job?

Gertridge noticed the look on Wilbur's face and shrugged. "What? I'm broke, dude. I'm used to spending all the money I have. I don't have any savings."

Wilbur shook his head and got back to eating. Gertridge did the same.

After Wilbur was done eating, he got up to pay. Gertridge called out to him, looking at him pitifully. "Can you cover for me too? I just started working, so I haven't gotten my pay yet."

"F*cking hell," Wilbur cursed, but he paid Gertridge's bill nonetheless before turning to leave.

A smile appeared on Gertridge's face.

Wilbur drove all the way to Octocharm Town and began wandering around.

That was Seechertown's largest antique market with all kinds of fun things for sale, but there were lots of fakes everywhere to beware of. Obviously, real antiques were few and far between. Most of them were already in the possession of the rich.

Just like that, Wilbur spent an entire afternoon just wandering around aimlessly.

Just then, he saw a shop selling precious stones. Wilbur decided to make one last stop there before going off for lunch.

The owner of the shop was a man in his forties who greeted Wilbur warmly.

Wilbur said, "I'm just looking around. Don't worry about me."

"Of course. Please go ahead!" The owner did not get up, continuing to sip his tea.

Wilbur began to explore the shop. It was filled with stones of all shapes and sizes.

"Sir, how much for this one? I'll take it," Wilbur called out.

The shop owner walked over, picked the rock up, and put it onto the display rack with a smile. "This is a good stone. It just came in two days ago. I haven't even gotten around to putting it on display."

Wilbur knew that this shop owner was just trying to sugarcoat his products, but he did not care. "How much, then?"

The shop owner stared at Wilbur. "Twenty thousand."

"Deal," Wilbur said, taking out his wallet. The shop owner was overjoyed that Wilbur was not haggling at all. He was going to be rich.

Just as Wilbur was about to pay, a man and woman walked in.

The man was dressed in designer clothes, and the woman looked rather pretty as well as she hung onto the man's arm.

The man heard that Wilbur was about to pay for the stone and burst out laughing. "Are you seriously charging twenty thousand dollars for that piece of crap?"
