"Village secretary? We're here to help Yanfren and did not touch the graves here. Why do we need to compensate you?" Wilbur asked.

Booker's face darkened immediately and said in a low voice, "How dare you say you didn't touch it when the grave is in this sorry state? You're just being disrespectful right now. Gregory, summon the villagers and have them decide."

The young man beside him agreed and ran off to make calls. Meanwhile, Booker seemed to be observing Yanfren closely.

Just then, Wilbur saw Yanfren wave at him, so he walked over with a frown. Yanfren then whispered into his ear, "This guy used to be a bully in the village. He's just trying to ask for money. Now that he's the village secretary, I can't afford to offend him."

Wilbur nodded slowly and said, "Looks like you managed to earn some money over the years."

"I made a small profit, but it's not much," Yanfren said with a glint in his eyes.

Wilbur chuckled. A person needed to be considerably rich to afford a house in Seechertown. Yanfren seemed like he was afraid of others finding out that he was loaded.

However, Yanfren was from this village, so Booker was quite well-informed about Yanfren's situation.

"Go talk to him and have him hire people to fill up the grave. You just need to pay them for their labor. We'll settle the matter about your father." Wilbur could not be bothered to deal with those people, so he gave Yanfren that suggestion.

Yanfren thought about it and agreed to Wilbur's suggestion. He could not let his father's corpse be exposed to the elements like that either. He would just let Booker benefit a little out of this and leave things be.

With that, he walked up to Booker and was all smiles. "Mister Stagen, can you hire some people to repair my father's grave? I'll pay for the cost. What do you think?"

"That's a cost you'll have to bear to begin with. However, there's another problem. You guys disturbed the peace of our ancestors, and I must hire someone to conduct a ceremony to appease them. You'll be bearing the cost for that too," Booker said.

Yanfren sighed after hearing that. "Fine. How much is it?"

Booker knew full well about Yanfren's situation. Booker was a shameless bully in the village to begin with, so nobody dared to cross him. Yanfren did not want to get into more trouble either. After all, this place was his hometown. He could deal with a minor extortion like that.

Booker nodded in satisfaction. "That's more like it. I won't ask that much from you. Just cough up a million and I'll let this slide."

"Damn it. Did this guy forget his roots after spending a few years in the city?"

"Let's just beat him up first. How dare he disturb the peace of our village!"

"That's right. We'll beat him to death if he doesn't pay up, then bury him with his father."

Wilbur scoffed as he watched the rowdy group.

They were no villagers. They were clearly thugs working for Booker. Yanfren would not be allowed to leave without paying up.

The crowd was stunned into silence. Wilbur then said slowly, "First of all, we weren't the ones who destroyed the grave. Secondly, even if we did, that grave belongs to Yanfren's family. It has nothing to do with you guys. If you're trying to blackmail him with this, then you guys are making a big mistake."
