Dexter’s frustration was evident as he placed his hands on his hips and took a few quick strides before saying through gritted teeth, “She’s also a friend of Julian’s. Is there an issue with her wanting to congratulate him and his wife?” 

The banquet began shortly. Angela sat next to Dexter, silently checking her phone every now and then, hoping time would speed up. 

As the newlyweds made their rounds to toast everyone, Angela managed to force a smile. 

“Well, well, well. If it isn’t Angela. What a rare sight!” Julian remarked with a hint of genuine surprise in his tone, as if seeing her there was something out of the ordinary. 

After all, he had never seen Dexter bring her to any important events in the past few years. 

“Congratulations on your marriage,” Angela smiled faintly and said no more. 

“Hello, Ms. Graham.” At this moment, the bride reached out her hand first. 

Angela was a little surprised but still smiled and shook her hand, feeling that she had seen this woman somewhere before. 

“I’m Bella Maine. I saw you at the competition yesterday. I was behind you, on the right,” Bella explained with a smile. 

Angela was taken aback. “You also participated in that design competition?” 

Bella responded with a nod and a smile, her vibrant red lips and pearly whites enhancing her already stunning appearance. 

Elena walked over and playfully teased, “Ms. Maine, you should be more cautious. Ms. Graham is incredibly skilled and came to this competition determined to take first place.” 

Some people who knew Angela looked at her with disdain. 

“Do you honestly think she has a chance at winning this major competition? She must be 

delusional.” 

“That’s right! We all know that Angela is simply a leech who depends on Mr. Bamford for everything. She probably got into the competition through some connections, right?” 

“But you know what? I heard that Angela received an award in her country and was accepted into DawnStar Co. as a result.”

Bella’s face lit up with a radiant smile, exuding confidence and grace. As she spoke, she glanced over at Angela with admiration shining in her eyes, unable to hide her true feelings. 

“Thank you for your compliment.” Angela blushed slightly at her words, but she also found herself liking this pretty lady even more. 

In contrast, Elena couldn’t control her emotions. Her face gave away her dark thoughts. 

Afterward, Angela saved Bella’s contact information and scheduled a dinner date so they could meet up again. 

“What’s going on with you? Why are you staring at her like a lovesick fool gazing fixedly at his woman?” Julian maneuvered through the crowd and tapped Dexter on the shoulder before sitting down next to him. 

Dexter gave him a sharp look and remained quiet. He then poured himself a glass of wine and downed it all at once. 

Julian let out a hearty laugh. “You rascal. I remember placing a bet with Zayn about which woman would finally capture your heart. Who would’ve guessed that after all the ups and downs, it would still be Angela who won you over? 

“I have to ask, if you knew she’d end up being the one, why were you so distant toward her in the beginning?” 

In their social circle, Julian had a reputation as a notorious playboy, always chasing after beautiful women. His marriage to Bella was merely an arranged one–there were no genuine emotions involved on his part.
