Angela naturally understood what he meant, but what she didn’t expect was that the local media had reported that she was dead. 

“What on earth is this?” she questioned helplessly, staring at the news headline on her phone. “Declaring someone dead without confirmation is absurd.” 

“I had the hospital release that.” Finn added coldly, “Dexter came, wanting to take you away, but I ignored him.” 

Angela froze momentarily as she recalled what had happened a few days ago. 

How ridiculous. Dexter didn’t even care about her well–being, so why was he here now? 

He probably just wanted to claim her corpse. 

“Mr. Snowden, that man is here again.” Right then, a nurse hurried in. “He’s about to break into the place.” 

“I don’t want to see him!” Angela exclaimed coldly, trembling all over. 

Her memories of him had turned darker and more revolting each time she recalled them. 

“You should just rest. I’ll take care of everything else.” With a smile, Finn tucked her in before turning to leave. 

“Where is she? I don’t believe that she’s dead!” 

Dexter stood at the foot of the stairs. His black suit looked like it had been worn for a few days straight, as there were wrinkles all over. 

His face had grown haggard and cold, his unshaven stubble starkly contrasting the sharp and noble man he usually was. 

Finn stood calmly at the top of the stairs, looking at him indifferently. At this moment, the difference between the two was evident. 

“She won’t see you. All she’ll feel is hate for you. She’ll hate you to her core.” Finn spoke with a smile, his eyes narrowing mockingly and his expression ícy. 

Dexter’s face darkened, but he gritted his teeth, enduring it. “What did you tell her? That’s not how it was. At the time, I was trying to—” 

“You don’t have to explain yourself, Mr. Bamford. Your relationship with Ms. Carrey is well known. Just leave and spare her from hating you even more,” Finn said coolly before turning to leave. 

“Where is she?” Dexter finally lost it, leaping forward to grab Finn’s shoulder. “I need to see her and explain myself!”

“There’s no need. In what capacity are you explaining yourself? Who are you to her? Dexter, I’ve already checked–you two are divorced. She’s a free woman now and has nothing to do with you.” Finn casually brushed off Dexter’s hand and had him restrained. 

Dexter stood frozen in place for a long time, his entire being exuding a chilling aura. 

“Mr. Snowden, he’s been standing there for an entire day now,” the nurse said worriedly. ” If this continues, something’s going to happen to him.” 

Finn frowned slightly. It was raining outside–who was Dexter trying to impress by doing this? 

“Mr. Snowden, Ms. Graham is…” The nurse suddenly spotted Angela heading outside with an umbrella and was stunned. 

Finn’s eyes widened as he stared intently at the slender figure downstairs, his anger boiling. “Who told her?” 

The nurse was terrified; she had never seen Finn this frightening. “N–No one said anything. She might have overheard someone…” 

Before she could finish, Finn had already dashed downstairs. 

“Dexter, what’s the point of doing this?” Angela stood five steps away from Dexter, looking at him indifferently. She was in a hospital gown; its loose and oversized fit made her look even more frail. 

The umbrella in her hand looked powerless against the storm, swaying precariously in the wind and rain. 

Angela looked at the tall man in front of her, whose shoulders were slumped. There wasn’t a trace of emotion in her eyes. 

Having gone through a life–and–death situation, she seemed to have completely let go, with even the last sliver of expectation she once held for him fading to nothing.
