As Logan's name was suddenly called, he immediately turned pale.

There was no way Sean had reported his absence. He barely showed up ten days a month.

Not only was Logan unable to hold anyone accountable, but he also had to help cover things up. After all, Andrew was the boss.

"Mr. Chapman, it seems that despite being the head of the HR department, you aren't too familiar with the company's leave policies. If that's the case, perhaps we should find someone more competent for the job?" Angela arched a brow at Logan, her eyes carrying a sharp warning.

Logan was immediately shocked and became anxious. With Angela raging at the moment, he certainly couldn't risk being the scapegoat and losing his job.

"Ms. Graham, as far as I know, Mr. Sean didn't submit a leave request." Logan lowered his head, avoiding Andrew's gaze as he spoke cautiously.

Unbelievable. Just this morning, he had been so sure of himself, confident that Angela was no threat, and taken her lightly. Yet, within less than an hour, he was already bowing his head and humbling himself.

"Maybe he forgot." Andrew was still trying to cover for Sean. "Since it was a sudden illness, it's understandable if he forgot to—"

"Or perhaps he was too drunk to bother," Angela cut in, stepping onto the stage with her arms crossed, a smirk playing on her lips. Her clear, piercing gaze locked onto the older man before her.

Andrew's face stiffened once again.

How did Angela even know about that?

Angela turned and asked the crowd coldly, "Who is Sean's second-in-command?"

A hand shot up, almost like a young student was seeking permission to speak in class. "Ms. Graham, that would be me."

"What's your name, and how many years have you worked at the company?" Angela asked.

The man answered honestly, "My name is Wilbert Compton. I've been with the company for four years and have always been in the operations and logistics department. Ms. Graham, we already tried to dispatch workers to fix the elevators, but…"

"Go on!" Angela urged. "Tell the truth."

Andrew nearly choked in rage. This damned woman!

Had she already forgotten how, back when she was just a nobody trailing behind her useless father, she used to greet him with such enthusiasm?

"Mr. Graham, please return to your seat." After putting him back in his place again, Angela spoke with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Now that I'm back, I'll manage the company, so there's no need for you to worry too much."

Andrew was utterly speechless.

His face turned an ugly shade of green. He glared at Angela, seething with fury, and then he suddenly collapsed backward, falling straight to the ground.

"Mr. Graham!"

"Call an ambulance!"

Panic erupted in the room.
