Just the thought made Dexter feel physically ill. He truly couldn't understand how Angela's thought process could be so different from everyone else's.

"Oh," Angela replied with an awkward smile, rubbing her nose, unsure how to respond.

If it had been before, she probably could have retorted with, "It's none of your business."

"If he likes them, let him have them. No need to make a fuss over something this trivial." Dexter signaled to Zack, urging him to leave quickly with the items.

"Hold on." Angela suddenly realized something was off. "Did you give him a credit card?"

Both men instantly broke into a cold sweat.

"You've been in the hospital these past few days, and he hasn't been working. His salary's been completely docked, so he's got no money to get by. That's why I…" Dexter's tone became a bit unnatural as he tried to explain.
