Chapter 296 novel Love and Devotion No Longer His to Claim (Angela and Dexter)
How could anyone do such a thing?
Anyone would be mad seeing their chat history, and Angela was no exception.
"Can't you keep your brother in check, Angela?" Elena sneered with a mocking smile. "You might be all successful and impressive on the outside, but don't let him be the one sabotaging you behind the scenes and leaving you to clean up his mess afterward."
With that, Elena grabbed her bag and left.
Angela was left speechless. It was the first time she'd ever been put in her place by Elena. She felt utterly frustrated.
She made a call and had Zack come back.
"Angie, we bought you eight different kinds of grapes—pick whichever you like!" Zack strutted in, hips swaying, and spoke in a deliberately shrill voice that grossed Angela out.
Angela was instantly livid. She grabbed a pillow and hurled it at him. Zack twisted his waist to dodge before staring at her in shock.
"What's wrong, Angie? Did that ugly woman just get on your nerves? Calm down. You have to remember that you're a gorgeous beauty. How can you stoop to the level of an ugly hag?" He walked over attentively, but Dexter stopped him.
"I'll go wash these." Grabbing the grapes, Dexter left the room.
He'd long noticed that Angela's mood seemed off, so he figured it was best to leave for now.
On the other hand, the dumb Zack couldn't be any more clueless.
"Let me ask you something. What exactly is going on between you and Amber Sheppard?" Angela kept telling herself not to get physical—she needed to stay calm.
She still hadn't fully recovered; if she got too worked up and something happened, it wouldn't be worth it.
She had long since passed the days of youth, and there was nothing she could do about it. Though she looked glamorous on the outside, inside, she felt barren and aged.
"She was just head-over-heels for you. Honestly, what's so great about you? I can't imagine you even attracting any woman's attention. I mean, you seem totally unreliable."
Angela was dumbfounded to learn that Amber had been relentlessly pestering Zack and that her possessive, paranoid nature had made things unbearably difficult for him, forcing him to let her go.
"Angie, only you think I'm worthless. It's fine, though. You're my sister, after all. I don't mind," Zack said, shrugging as he flopped onto the couch to play a game on his phone.
Angela believed that if it was just Amber one-sidedly clinging to Zack, then ending things sooner rather than later wasn't a bad thing.
If Zack had been stringing her along ambiguously, wasting Amber's time, Angela would have given him a serious scolding.
But what she didn't expect was for two uninvited guests to arrive the next day.
