Angela was a little suspicious of what it was as she took the box and opened it. Inside lay an emerald bracelet identical to the one she had. It was exquisite and elegant.

Her eyes lit up. "Where did you find this dupe?"

She picked up the bracelet, comparing it to hers. "How much was it? I'll send you the money."

It was good to have a duplicate to wear. If she went to Bamford Manor next time, it wouldn't look good if Joseph saw her wrist bare.

Dexter rolled his eyes. "Do you really think I'd buy a dupe, Angela?"

She chuckled awkwardly. "Then this must've been expensive."

"It's in the double digits. It's not worth that much." Dexter snorted lightly before walking out the door.

Curious, Angela later asked Rocky about it. Rocky told her Dexter had gotten one of his friends, a jewelry maker, to bring this piece from a remote place.

It was a one-of-a-kind treasure—something money couldn't easily buy.

She was momentarily stunned.

Angela began to feel bad again, leading to inner turmoil. Nonetheless, she knew that if she showed any sign of how she was feeling, she would truly be an ungrateful person.

Oh, well. If she didn't accept it, it would just go to waste. Since Dexter went through so much trouble to get it for her, the best thing she could do was accept it with a smile. That was probably the best way to repay him.

Angela had Joanne take a set of photos for her, capturing the bracelet from various angles and making sure to highlight it. She then posted them on her social media with a playful dog emoji.

Within minutes, Joseph liked the post and commented, "I gave you that so long ago, and you're only posting it now? Hmph!"

Angela couldn't help feeling both amused and helpless.

A few minutes later, Dexter liked the post without leaving a comment.

The truth was, he had seen it the moment she posted it, but his focus wasn't on the bracelet—it was on her slender, fair wrist and delicate fingers. He had to admit that her hands were beautiful, as refined as any professional jewelry model's.

But now he'd suddenly laughed.

What did that mean? Was Dexter so displeased with Carl's proposal that he mocked the latter? Or was he so pleased with the proposal that he laughed in approval?

The large meeting room fell into pin-drop silence.

Rocky cleared his throat lightly.

Dexter suddenly stood up. "We'll do as you suggested."

With that, he strode out of the room, his long legs moving briskly.

He was in an excellent mood. The smile on his face was nearly impossible to conceal—it was like he was walking on sunshine.

Indeed, giving gifts was the way to go.
