Mia was right. What was Angela afraid of?

Taking another swig of his beer, Dexter said in an indifferent tone, "Easy. If your mom comes again, cut ties with her."

"It's nothing," Dexter muttered, not wanting to open old wounds. He was beyond frustrated as it was.

Why was Angela so damn stubborn? For her to reject him again and again, did she really think he had unlimited patience?

"You got rejected again, huh?" Zayn poked him right where it hurt the most. "Who would have thought you'd also have moments like this?"

"Will you die if you keep your mouth shut?" Dexter shot him a glare.

"They say even the fiercest woman can't resist a persistent man. Just keep pursuing her. You're handsome and rich—what kind of woman wouldn't fall for you? Sooner or later, she'll be under your command." Zayn finally cracked a smile, though it was more of a smile of shared helplessness.

"Really?" Dexter downed the last sip of his beer.

He was running out of options.
