Angela mentally slapped herself when she came to her senses. She thought something was wrong with her and that she had completely lost her mind by succumbing to lust.
“Either we share the bed, or you sleep on the couch!” Dexter said coldly.
He felt even more displeased when he recalled what happened earlier in the day.
Angela was utterly exasperated by his shamelessness.
She reluctantly climbed off the bed and curled up on the couch after a fierce internal struggle.
She felt that it was better than sharing a bed with that obnoxious man.
Dexter still couldn’t fall asleep in the dead of the night.
Angela seemed exhausted and was already snoring softly on the couch.
He couldn’t fully harden his heart in the end. He got up and carried her back to bed and resigned himself to spending the night on the couch instead.
He had ended up catching a cold by morning.
He sneezed multiple times during breakfast.
Joseph was out exercising, and Fiona had left the house early. That left only the two of them at the dining table.
Angela was thinking about today’s training session. She hastily took a few bites and was ready to leave before she heard him sneeze again. He looked quite pitiful.
She casually told Maria to prepare some medicine for him without much thought. She swore it was purely to avoid him causing trouble for them later in the day. However, she couldn’t remember at all when she had reclaimed the bed last night. Dexter didn’t do anything particularly irritating in the following days apart from maintaining his perpetually sour expression. She couldn’t tell if it was because of the medicine.
Even Elena seemed to have toned down her passive–aggressive provocations.
The week–long training soon came to an end. Today was the day to showcase everyone’s
progress.
Simon entered the classroom, carrying a stack of reflection essays written by everyone and everyone’s design projects.
Chapter 81
The judging panel had already scored these designs and conducted a comprehensive evaluation based on everyone’s performance throughout the week.
The top scorer would win the chance to dine with Simon.
This reward drove everyone into a frenzy.
It was a lifetime’s worth of bragging rights if any of them could have a meal with a master of the design world!
Not to mention the potential opportunities and benefits that might come from such a
connection.
Excited whispers filled the room. Angela couldn’t help feeling a rush of anticipation as she looked toward the stage.
However, Dexter was there too. He was even the award presenter.
She rolled her eyes silently. She couldn’t quite fathom why he always took over roles meant for ceremonial hostesses.
Simon was holding the winning design and the name of the top scorer by now.
He strode toward the podium with his signature smile.
The crowd was abuzz with excitement.
In truth, many had secretly evaluated and speculated the winner before this.
Everyone knew that Elena was undoubtedly the most talented designer in the room. She had once been the head of the design department at Bamford Co. before venturing out on her own to start a company and amassing countless awards along the way.
“It has to be you. I heard the name resembles yours,” Nora whispered to Elena.
Elena was equally confident. She knew someone on the judging panel, and they had hinted that her work ranked among the best. She was probably the top scorer.
Simon spoke at the moment. “I’m sure everyone is eager to find out who’s the top scorer, so I won’t drag this out. The designer with the highest score who also came first overall goes to…”
He claimed that he wouldn’t drag this out, yet he still left everyone hanging at the most critical moment.
His gaze briefly swept in Elena’s direction.
Everyone immediately understood.
It had to be her. She deserved it after all.
