Mackenzie remained composed, maintaining the expected formalities. 

After all, Ken was privately hosting her. She could not expect any prominent 

figures to attend the banquet. 

“Haha, now the whole country knows that we must thank two people for 

saving West End from disaster! One is Mr. Hale, and the other is you, Ms. 

Quillen!” 

Ken continued to flatter her. “Having Ms. Quillen take time to visit my humble 

home truly brings great honor!” 

“Mr. Willy, you flatter me!” 

Mackenzie smiled. “I have brought quite a few people along with me today. 

Please do not think I am being too grand or begrudge us for eating too much 

of your food.”

“Haha, not at all! You’re so funny, Ms. Quillen. A few hundred guests are 

nothing to me. The Willy family can certainly afford to feed all of you for a 

meal.” 

Ken heartily laughed. “Ms. Quillen, please come inside!” 

Mackenzie nodded and followed Ken into the garden. 

Rhett walked silently behind her. His sharp eyes were like those of an eagle, 

constantly scanning his surroundings. 

Quintus and the others followed as well. 

Despite being a group of skilled fighters, none of them sensed anything out of 

the ordinary. 

Soon, Ken led Mackenzie and her group to an outdoor banquet area, where 

tables were already covered with delicious food. 

“Ms. Quillen, please take your seat! Allow me, as the host, to properly thank 

you on behalf of West End for your help!

Ken maintained his formal tone. 

Mackenzie calmly took her seat. 

Lexi, Rhett, and Quintus sat beside her. 

As for the seats near Ken, aside from Anthony, there were only a few 

insignificant people. None of Ken’s family members were present. 

“Mr. Willy, where is your family?” Mackenzie asked. 

“Yes, with such a large home, are you really the only one here? Haha.” 

Quintus added with a laugh. 

It seemed unrealistic. 

However, Ken had already prepared his response. He smiled and said, 

“Unfortunately, my wife’s younger sister is getting married today. She took the 

children to the wedding, so I am the only one left at home.”

Quintus laughed again. “I hope there will not be another coincidence later, 

like all of us suddenly getting stomach aches!” 

His comment immediately killed the conversation. 

Everyone at the table fell silent, exchanging uneasy glances. 

Ken paused for a moment before laughing and asking, “Who might you be?” 

“I am the most loyal, brave, and handsome knight of the beautiful Ms. Quillen, 

Quintus Lenoir!” 

Quintus introduced himself, leaving everyone at the table speechless for a 

moment. 

What a character! 

Ken laughed. “Mr. Lenoir, you have a great sense of humor! Do not worry! Though West End is not as economically developed as Nuthana, and I cannot 

compare in wealth, the food here is clean and safe. No one will get a 

stomach ache from it 

Despite his reassurance, everyone exchanged glances, and no one dared 

touch the food.

Ken raised his gloss, turning to Mackenzie. “Come, Ms. Quillen. A toast to you 

and to all the heroes here!” 

No one moved, 

Mackenzie was unsure whether the food or drink was tainted. As a guest, 

however, if the host had already raised a toast, she, as the leader, could not 

doubt him without appearing rude or causing tension. 

Fortunately, at that moment, an elderly man entered with a few others, 

laughing “Mr. Willy, you have arranged this banquet for Ms. Quillen, yet! 

come uninvited. Surely, you will not think me too bold and ask me to leave?” 

Mr Abovos?

Mackenzie immediately stood up to show her respect for the elderly man. 

One, she did it to gain his favor. 

Two, it would prevent Ken from dismissing him. 

“Haha, how could I? Mr. Abovos, you are an honored guest too. I am delighted 

you came!” 

“Really? Then let us drink!” 

Jidrus grabbed a bottle from the table and took a drink. 

As a native of West End, Jidrus knew the internal politics of the West End 

Chamber of Commerce and was aware of Ken’s connection to Teddy. 

Since Mackenzie was Teddy’s opponent, it was certain Teddy would want Mr. 

Willy to eliminate her. 

The most effective way was through poison.

being an old man with little to lose, he was willing to risk himself. Mackenzie

Even if it cost him his life, Jidrus would find a way to protect her. 

Mackenzie and the others kept a close watch on Ken’s expression but saw 

nothing unusual. 

Could we have been wrong? 

Not only Mackenzie, but the others also began to wonder if they had 

misjudged Ken. Had he never intended to poison them?

Ken, knowing everyone was suspicious, realized that if he did not drink first, 

they would not relax. Thus, he and Jidrus drank.
