While cursing Edgar under her breath, she staggered out of the bedroom with her sore body. After getting dressed, she left the room to look for Edgar. However, instead of finding Edgar, she saw Molly, who was sitting on the sofa downstairs. Before she was able to react, a sweet and innocent little voice came through, "Mom, Aunt Maggie has woken up."
Maggie instinctively turned in the direction of the voice. There she saw a sweet little boy as cute as a button, gazing at her without any emotion on his face. Then a little girl who was dressed in a red woolen dress stared at her with big shining eyes blinking innocently up at her. Her eyes were so beautiful that Maggie couldn't take her eyes away from them.
"You're up?" Molly said. She put a magazine on the tea table in front of her and stood up. "Edgar and Eric have something to do. I've been waiting here for you," she explained with a smile when she saw the curiosity and confusion in Maggie's eyes. "Hmm. I didn't expect that your relationship would change in only a few months."
Hearing Molly's ridicule, Maggie blushed in an instant. Her impression of Molly was based on their meeting for the first time and Cathy's description of her. Maggie couldn't deny that she felt awkward in Molly's presence, especially since she was aware that Molly had been Edgar's lover previously.
"Aunt Maggie, come downstairs to eat something," Evelyn said, blinking with her long thick eyelashes as she looked at Maggie. "Mom instructed the cook here to prepare some delicious food for you." When the little girl mentioned food, her eyes began to shine even brighter, as if the food was ready for her to eat.
Maggie was amused by the adorable expression on Evelyn's little face. Curiously, she went downstairs and walked towards Molly and the children. She gazed at Evelyn first and then she looked at Charlie. Finally, her sight fell on Molly. "Are they the twins?" she asked.
Molly nodded with a smile. She hinted to the servants who stood not far away with her eyes to serve the food. Then she gestured for Maggie to sit at the dining table. She said, "The first time that I saw you, I thought it would be nice if you and Edgar could be together. Later on, when I heard something from Eric, I was really hoping that you two would get together, though I didn't expect that my wish would come true in only a few months."
While saying that, she picked up a small box that was wrapped in royal blue and passed it to Maggie. "Although you haven't held your wedding ceremony yet, you have become legally married by obtaining the marriage certificate. Please accept this as a gift for becoming legally married."
"No, thank you. I don't think it's appropriate for me to take this," Maggie said, refusing. Immediately, she felt ashamed for viewing Molly as an imaginary enemy previously and even just now. However, it turned out that Molly wished her and Edgar happiness with all sincerity.
"From now on, we will be like family," Molly said with a smile. "We're connected not only through Edgar but also through Daniel and Cathy." After saying that, she placed the gift box into Maggie's hand again.
"Aunt Maggie, this is your gift from Charlie and me," Evelyn said while handing a pink packaged box to Maggie with her little chubby hands. "I selected the gift, and Charlie packaged it by himself." Blinking, she stared at Maggie, expecting her praise.
"You... had a similar experience?" Maggie asked in surprise. Cathy had only told her that there once had been a triangle relationship between Edgar, Molly, and Brian. She said that Brian loved Molly very much, but she didn't go into the details with her.
"Yeah. Moreover, that woman is my half-blooded elder sister with the same father but a different mother," Molly said plainly. When she saw the astonishment on Maggie's face, she stopped in her tracks. "Although many people grab and keep from others in love, it's not easy for two people to have a crush on each other and finally get together. Therefore, you'd better not view me as an imaginary rival in love. That would do you no good but only make you unhappy. Do you understand?"
Hearing that, Maggie pursed her lips into a straight line. Gazing at Molly, she felt sad all of a sudden. After all, no matter how strong-minded a woman was, she would become soft and weak once she talked about the man she loved.
"Edgar came to Dragon Island on official business this time, but he brought you here," Molly continued slowly. "It's not something the Edgar I know well would have done. However, he did bring you here. Do you know why?"
Maggie shook her head. She didn't believe it was because Edgar loved her so much that he didn't want to part from her even for a moment, just like in the romantic stories. Just like Molly said, that was not something the Edgar she knew would do either.
